It was foggy and wet when I rode the Black and Tan valk over to the airport, as I got to the tarmac out came the sun and what a glorious site I beheld
First I climbed into the B17 and then the B24 wow it sure was cramped in there.
Here is a link to my pics and movies.
My uncle Dave while serving in the Marines was in the Liberators (24's) and was shot down 3 times. He has never been able to hear well and now I understand. The planes were neither heated nor pressurized. The yellow things that look like buoys were the oxygen they breathed. The noise, wind and sound of the 50 calibers firing must have been incredible.
There is a ride available at 5 pm Its 425 for a short hop in the B17 and 2500 for a hop in the P51 Each ride is 20 minutes in the air. Hope to see the plane go overhead later I will be out with my camera trying to get lucky over in croton on the hudson.
God bless the souls of the men who did not return from their missions and those whom the Lord has welcomed after full lives and those still with us. We owe a debt beyond my ability to convey.
