Ok first, our 97-03 Valkyrie was not a Goldwing correct? The 14-15 Valk is a GW correct? So is it a Goldwing Valkyrie or a Valkyrie Goldwing? Meaning a Goldwing foundation and Valkyrie is a subtitle? Like it is a Valkyrie Standard or a Valkyrie Tourer or a Valkyrie Interstate? I see on the Honda web page it says Goldwing Valkyrie. I know it sounds stupid but I want to know if I have a Goldwing Jacket as I see a Joe Rocket one I like, is this kosher?

I guess they could have called it a Goldwing Standard, but maybe they were trying to entice us Valkyrie folks over to the dark side (not the tire thing, but the Star Wars thing)....it worked for us I guess.

Ok....for your original question. I never considered the full Goldwing in my choices. A couple of cousins had them and I was not really impressed with the way you sat on them, nor the way the the handlebars were positioned. I am not very impressed with our valks, but I am in the process of fixing that. Not so easy on the full wing. As for the F6B. I checked it out, but I could not get past the big rear end and the weight issue. I was looking for something lighter than my I/S and if I was going to buy the F6B then I might as well of kept my I/S. I was not crazy with the big fairing on it as well. Might as well buy a full wing.

I refer to my bike as a stripped Goldwing. I've owned 2 Goldwing standards, a 78 blue and an 80 in Wineberry I think they call it, BTW, Wineberry is similar to my new Valk color. I also owned an 02 Valk. If I can ever sell my Triumph Bonne I will replace it with some kind of vintage Honda to tinker with, maybe a Goldwing Standard. . They were made up to the 1200, 84 was last standard I think.

The new ones really are stripped Goldwings... same frame, same motor, different stuff bolted on. Beyond the motor (and the motor is pretty different) the old ones are not like their sister Goldwings... different frame, and all the stuff that bolts to the frame is different. Look inside... different final drive, different drive shaft. No question they are related, and your point about GL1500 is well taken... -Mike

I saw an interesting bike on hwy 59 north of 132 in northern ill form all first looks it would be a Harley, Harley front end, Harley rear, including bags and rails, Harley tank, and emblems, BUT it had an older gold wing 4 cyl engine and shaft drive with the radiator in front like the 1500s and oh yes honda instruments with 46000 miles on it. nice and clean asking price $4500, If i didnt already have my 2014 valkyrie it would be a neat bike to have in the garage.

I thought of that but did not mention it. The webpage says Goldwing Valkyrie 14-15 Did any of the old original Valk brochures say Goldwing? stirring the pot?
