Hello everyone.   I bought and installed the backrest and pad on my 2014.   My question is can I buy a different pad and mount it in place of the Honda pad. I want the wider curved pad instead of the Honda pad.  The ones I see on the aftermarket sites all say wil mount to 5 inch backrest. Does that mean 5 inches between the 2 upright bars on the backrest or 5 inches where the screws actually are. My backrest is 5 inches wide but where the pad mounting tabs are actually only maybe 4 inches apart at best.  Thanks for the help.

Contact Des at Ultimate.   He is currently at InZane, but you could probably still reach him by phone.

You can go to his website and find the #.

I had a bigger & wider backrest of his on MGM and loved it,

I could probably steal it off of my son, he bought MGM and sell it to ya.     LOL.

You could check out Corbin seats, they have a backrest pad that's lower and wider than factory, and bolts on to the factory backrest mount.  Photos are on Corbin's website with the Dual Tour seat.

Thanks for the replies. R J what's an MGM?  Also I saw the corbin which is twice as much $$$ as the other aftermarket backrest pads.  It's $183 compared to $90 at the high end.   Not trying to be cheap but twice as much is twice as much for a backrest.   I'm only thinking of changing it so I can put a sissy bar bag on it which most require at least a 7 inch backrest pad. The Honda is bout 5.   Thanks for the replies guys.

MGM was the name of my Valkyrie.

M = Mean
G = Green
M = Machine.

He was Green/Creme

This is a picture after he was converted to a Trike.

I don't know about the 1800, but some backrests are interchangeable.

First, from the mounting post going in a seat slot; For instance, I use a Mustang backrest on my Ultimate seats.  It fits the Ultimate seat slot perfectly, and I like it better for several reasons, but essentially personal fit to my body.

Next, some pads may be interchangeable on different mount hardware, but you would have to do your homework as obviously the internal mounting points inside the backrest have to be reinforced to take the bolts, and the bolt pattern would have to match, or you might be able to modify that, though you would end up with unused holes.

And you could try taking your backrest to an upholstery shop and ask them to rebuild it to your specs, maybe.

I very much like the firmer, curved Mustang backrest to the square spongy pad of the Ultimate (which will not adjust low enough for my back).

Years ago, I took a vinyl binocular case, stuffed in more foam, and pushed it down over my existing backrest.  It looked funky... but worked better.

I read Ultimate was not making seats for the Goldwing Valk (or maybe the F6B either), for now.

Adapt, improvise, overcome.
