Engine whine gone after riding the Dragon

Or was it tire whine ? I have done a search about the whine and most say drive train, some say the Bridgestone Exedra is too blame ? I had read some threads about this whine but it was Not until owning my 3rd Valk did I hear this on the I/S, at 50mph to 53 or so it made an awful loud whine from when I got her recently at 21,250 till about 22k then I took her to Maggie Valley last week and the first day rode the Dragon. I would say it is more of an engine workout than anything. I kept her in 3rd gear the whole time, letting the motor slow us down and using the rpm range up to 3500, maybe 4k rpm at times. 2 more days of the Blue Ridge with similar gear selection and Now after being back home on the same roads no more whine, she is smooth and quiet at 50 mph. Maybe the tensioners got the workout they needed or did the tire wear in and quiet up ? the tires came new at 21k. I think the engine had been babied all it's life and finally got broke in. ?

My 2000 IS does not whine. I can hear the front gears make noise under acceleration, but are quite the rest of the time. I can here tire whine on certain road surfaces. One time after I did a rear tire change and rear end service I heard a whine during the test ride. I was sure I had done something wrong so I loosened up the four nuts and axle nut  and retorqued and the noise was gone. One time after a day of hiway speed driving I could hear a soft whine up front and worried my timing tensioner pulleys were bad, I ordered and replaced the timing belt. The pulleys looked good so I left them alone, no noise since.

If it was the drive train, I would think you rode the kink out of it. Anyway's all's good now!

I'd say  it was a tire whine and the dragon took the little kinks out of the side tread for ya.

Don't know about the rest of Yall but my 97 has had a whine since I test rode it with 0 miles on it and now over 100k but it is tranny whine and normal as far as I can tell cause my 99 does it too although not quite as loud but when up to speed unnoticeable.
Sure tires whine and different stuff in corners when a small cupping is on tires.

I just got my third and new to me 00.  It has new bridge stones.  It has the exact same tire noise you describe.  Next set I'll be back to avons

   E3's that came on mine whined. That beautiful front fender on our Gurls does not help, serving as a echo chamber. Cobra on the front and
CT on the back eliminated 90% of it. Tranny whine loudest when hard accelerating ( that would be a lot ). I've grown to like it. Stock Tourer
exhaust. My riding partner, my 11 yr grandson says she whines and whirrs when idling.... Wish I was in SD.

 It's the Dragon... I whine a lot less after a few passes too

I will agree with the tire being the issue, I will say this tire played real nice on the heavy rains and hail I encountered last week. I wonder if the whine could come back after 3k or so on Florida slab.?  Well yearly runs to the mountains sounds like good tire therapy to me.

  I have the tranny whine in my 97 as well. But I once had a set of Bridgestones on one of my VT1100s and had people actually pull up next to me and ask what that whine was.

Just returned from my Hyder, Alaska trip and this is the first time I noticed a whine between 45mph and 60 mph. I have a new Metzeler marathon tire in the front for the trip. Any other speed nothing. I searched the forum for info on "whine" and I guess it is either normal or tire noise. FYI my is a 99 tourer.
