Hey you guyz, want to get a windshield for my bike, but do not want a large one. I prefer just a smaller deflector in which helps deflect insects, some wind and road debris. I had one on my last bike (Shadow 1100) and worked flawlessly (Switchblade deflector)... I have been looking at Honda's offering..the smaller boulevard windshield and wonder if anyone has any experience with this on the new Valkyrie... Thanks in advance!

In these posts there are some who started with the smaller screen and switched to the larger one. But they gave the info as to why the switch it may be what you wanted to know.

I haven't used the Honda Boulevard windshield for the new Valkyrie (5" tall), but everything I have read about it has been negative. Most people say it does basically nothing. I do have the Honda tall windshield, (20" tall), and it is just a little too tall for me. I am 5' 11" and the top of the windshield is exactly in my line of sight, so I spend all day either trying to look over the top of the windshield, or trying to look under the top of the windshield. Back and forth, back and forth, all day long. It gets annoying. Gustufson's plastics makes replacement windshields in several other heights for the new Valkyrie. They make the stock 5" height, and also an 8" height, 14" height, and a 15" height version. I am going to either trim 2" off the top of my Honda tall windshield, or change to the Gustufson 15" version. http://bikescreen.com/collections/honda/Valkyrie

You'll save a bundle by shaving an inch at a time. I'm also 5'11" with tall torso and maybe an extra inch of natural padding . I look through the shield, which I don't mind, I've grown used to this, I discovered years ago the least buffeting comes with a tall screen, that's what work for me anyway. One windshield maker sells side wings that clamp on, I may look into this. The radiator shells on each side of our bikes keep the air blast that comes from below the windscreen to a minimum. Most cruisers need lowers to correct this but they have a minimal effect in my experience. I'm happy with my OEM tall.

This is my french windshield, so satisfying (and cheap) as if I were the salesman I used it this winter so that's why the windshield is in the most upright position. If I need this summer to lower the windshield, it could be really easy as you can see. But I won't because I ride with an open face helmet and in the summer breeze, you have to choose : or you drive really slowly (less than 50 m/h) or you go faster and then you have to close your helmet ... and it's too hot. So behind the shield you can go a little faster (but not that much in fact) with the helmet opened. And if you go really faster, you don't mind the heat Looks pretty good...is this something readily available? If so, please post a link! Thanks!

I purchased a National Cycle Deflector DX (smoke) from Ebay for $130.00. Very nice windscreen, small and compact, easy to mount, no throttle cable interference and eliminates nearly all helmet buffeting at hwy speeds. If I could figure out how to post some pic's they'll be added soon.

AdrianR, Yes, that is the windscreen I have. So far it has worked really well. I have mine mounted so the bottom corners of the windshield are about 1/2" above the top of the forks.

I have the MRA RO Roadshield that I purchased from Twisted Throttle $150.00 with shipping. It looks like it was made for the Valkyrie. Easy to install and fits perfectly as the bottom has a square cut that matches the headlight.

The honda short shield was just that for me, TOOO SHORT> I kept the handle bar mounts and found an after market 18" high one for $60.00 plus shipping that worked out ok just had to drill acouple extra holes , go slow with the drill and be careful not to put too much pressure on the drill and it worked out fine
