Can anyone tell me where a good place is to try and find some bags.  I have a 99' standard and it has leather lyke bags.  I would like to change to Tourer or I/S bags.

Thanks Mark

EVIL-BAY

Classified here

Pinwall Salvage.

Not necessarily in that order, however it's a place to start.

Then there is a few after market places,

On eBay there's a set of bags with about 15 hours left that are up to $406 right now, and a set of
mounting brackets with 15 hours left that are at $166.

They look like they both came from the same crashed-out bike from Pinwall, but since you'd have
to paint the bags anyway to match your bike, they might be OK - he says they're scuffed and
scratched and stuff, and there's pictures that show that they are indeed pretty rough, but
it doesn't say they're broken or cracked....

As a benchmark:
A set of decent looking brackets just went for $152... some nice looking Interstate bags just went
for $630... a couple of sets of the replica rails just went for $300...

Have you considered looking into Tsukayu bags ??  They make some that are very similar and IMHO look better.

There is a Fella on Here that has the same Color Tourer as Mine .

When I was new to the Board he posted a picture of his bike. I never dreamed he did not have the
Factory Tourer Valkyrie. He got his Bags from Champion

I think Champion also Makes Trikes and Trunks and stuff.

Here is what caught my eye. Before I bought a Valk I was looking for months. I was going to get
a Standard then by add on bags because at that time the Tourer Models were out of control on price.
Yes I know I was looking long and hard for the right deal. Well the decision maker for me, was my research
showed after market bag choices were limited to beetle bags or a slightly smaller version of the factory bags. I hated that smaller look where can see the whole rear shock. So my quest was then to find
a Valkyrie Tourer.

One day I bought a Tourer then when introduced myself, one fella jumped online with the same color
bike and a Home made Tourer. The Picture was fantastic and i never knew the difference.
To me the Bags Looked Factory.

The Bags are Pricey  But at the end of the day, if the factory look is what your looking for
I say Hands down better to go new champion then a ragged set of used ones that Bring Giant Bucks, and still need a repaint.

+1 on the Champions  cooldude

Here's a pic -

Order the color ya want, made of fiber glass (not ABS Plastic), nice felt lining.  I've had mine for years, and still love 'em  Wink

BTW, a friend has the Tsukayu bags, and they are real nice too, for a good deal less money.

The Champion bags are nice but I like the look of the Tsukayu's without the little reflector unit on the side. They are fiberglass with felt liners. Here's a pic of a really nice Valk with the Tsukayu "Strong" bags.

I just ordered a set of Tsukalyu jumbo strong hard bags today, less than $500 from Directline (in primer) and free shipping, and they come with the mounting hardware. There is a discount sale of 15%, use the code ("back") when checking out. They are only on sale until Wednesday.

I have seen them mounted and I think they look great. They look very similar to original bags, but a little wider so they hold more.

PLUS, they are much cheaper than a used set of factory bags.

I noticed that the newer bags (Tsukayu) now hinge towards the front instead of on the side. For those that have replied that own them how much room did you allow between the bags and the pipes ??

Sodbuster,
The Jumbo bags I ordered have the hinge on the side if the picture on the Directline site is correct. The standard strong bags may hinge from the front though, I'm not sure.

Ditto on the Tsukayu bags. I have them and they are great. Built well and the look is very close to OEM. Best value for the money in my book!

Well, I spent an entire year thinking about it, planning it, researching how to lay fiberglass,  how I was going to do the lids, how I would attach them to the bike, etc., then executing the plan.  But really, once I knew what I was going to do, and now that I know what to do, I could probably reproduce them in a couple weekends or so if I didn't have any other distractions...like a wife and 3 small daughters.  Cheesy

I knew I shouldn't be reading the forum today.  I just ordered a set too.  Thanks for the discount code, it made the decision easier for me although I have yet to inform my wife.

Jim

Maybe they are carryovers or just an old photo. The Tsukayu website shows them mounted on front

http://www.tsukayu.com/JumboStrong.html

I think they have done some upgrades lately ....

My only question is where you put your left leg with that trashcan mounted on the side.

I haven't heard much about them... looked at them a few years ago. I did read one bad review of them a few months ago, but cannot remember where. I think it was about them being bad quality, but can't be sure... wish I could be of more help.

There's room.  It's mounted off to the side...kinda like a side-car.  That's were my kids ride when they go with me and the wife.  Notice the bungee cord to keep the lid from blowing off??   Smart-guy...  Cheesy

About a year and a half ago, I tried numerous times to contact them and never received a return call or email.  I wound up going the used Tourer bag / repaint route.

I just got my Jumbo Tsukayu hard bags and they are ready for paint, I could not find a flaw anywhere.

The bags hinge from the side, and come with ace barrel type locks installed. I am thinking the difference in hinge location may be standard vs. jumbo.

I ordered them Monday morning and received them Wednesday PM. Good service. By the way, Directline extended the sale through the holiday weekend, same discount code, "BACK"

Now it will drive me nuts until I get them painted so I can install them.

I just ordered a set direct from Tsukayu.  I also ordered the Tsukayu bag rails.  Do the bags from Directline come with the new latches and hinges?

The jumbo bags from HDL are backordered so I would assume they will come with current hardware and not be pulled from old stock.

My bags came with the hinges and a round ace type lockset (both nice looking chrome), and the hardware that is needed to mount them.
