About 1 am heard a large crash. A large limb came down from the neighbors tree and just missed the house by 3 foot. It is still balanced in the upper part of the tree, and if it falls will take out my power lines. Another expense I don't need. Sill trying to get some one out to remove it and some other limbs that are bad. If I cannot get some one out today, guess I will rent a lift and try to get it down. Angry

Glad that storm missed Lake Placid yesterday...  If you have to do it yourself , be careful....

No storm, just a rotten limb. Looks like it is hollow. If I cannot get a service here today, going to try to pull it away from the power lines before it falls the rest of the way.

However this works out, it sounds to me like a claim against the neighbor's Homeowner's Ins (it's his tree/limb) for any expense incurred.

Please avoid making smoke come out of your head.  angel

In our neck of the woods with the Clay Electric Co-Op if it will take out your power lines the power company will come and do it for you for free.  I had a tree near the road that was leaning toward the power line and they cut the top out so that if it fell it wouldn't hit the power line.  I cut the rest down.  They don't want anything to keep you from using as much power as you can.  Plus it would probably be more expensive to repair than if they trimmed it out.

Lake county is the same way....if it encroaches on a power line they will come out and take care of it.

Around here Teco will not do any thing.  Hired a tree service, $900 later the tree looks bare. Had all the limbs that over hung my property taken off. Most were hollow and ready to break. At least my neighbor did cough up half of the cost.

Good call on the tree service if the electric co. wouldn't help.

Geez Bill, you've had enough stuff happen already, give it a rest bud.  Wink

I'm surprised you just didn't shimmy up that tree and take care of it yourself. At our tender young ages....   Grin

I also had a rude awakening a while back. Two cats were "taking care of business" by moonlight and such yowling like you never heard. Had it been me I'd given up the moment she opened her mouth, but they were really carrying on and it was just outside the pool screen out back. After a few minutes of that racket, I decided to disturb the piece....so to speak. Grabbed the hose on the back patio and hosed them down good. The female took off, the male just stood there growling at me so I helped him cool down some more. He finally walked off in the direction his partner took. Guess he still had high hopes....must have been a teenager!  Roll Eyes
