I've been riding a 1500 '97 Valkyrie for about 5 years, thought it was a great bike, bit heavy but powerful and once I learned how to ride it I could make it fly thru the turns just fine.

Now I've been on the '14 for about 3 weeks spending every day getting to know it, going on routes I used to think wad more of a chore and actually enjoying myself.

Today I took the '97 to my old man's house for some maintenance, storage and to let him ride it when ever his harley crap out. It was about an hour ride and the whole time all I could think was "it's like riding a couch with wheels and dragging a sack of rocks behind it".

My wife loves that old bike and is worried that I'll never get it back, unfortunately for her I think she's right. I liked that old bike but I love my new new one.

There I lay, broken and bloody, my life slipping away when a beautiful winged woman in glorious golden armor appeared.

"Come with me" she said.

"To where?" I asked.

"To Valhalla"

Couldn't agree more,  cooldude there are certain cars, boats, motorcycles when they just feel like they want to get up and go. I'm really not a horse guy but it must be like riding a stallion compared to a regular horse. You seem to be holding them back, you not the bike or horse are the limiting factor to how fast they go. Speed and driving is effortless that is how my new valk feels compared my old Valk. While there is nothing wrong with a 18 wheeler you cannot say they are light on their feet and want to just go. They will do their job and well for many miles but driving is not effortless. A wing is like riding your living room couch but I did not want that the new Valk just gives you enough input to not make you feel like this. I took turns in the new Valk that seemed just a thought to go around when in my 01 it would be a plan.

Moving the nex gen around in the garage feels like a 700s nighthawk that weighs 496lbs and continues to feel like one through speeds.  The 1st gen when getting back on is like moving a tank in the garage and is the same until you get up to 50 then she feels better. That was my observation climbing back on the IS after 300 miles on the next Gen. It is the agility of this bike that is bringing me the most Joy.   cooldude cooldude

Twenty years ago the first generation Valkyries were good for when they were made.  Luckily, that's how technology works.  Newer, stronger, faster, better..........
