There ya are with that fine looking switch box. Thanks for chiming in bro. Hey was wondering, when I open the volume control box is it going to go spring like a jack in the box? I need to open it and check my cb lever for possible lubrication, not transmitting very well and I was considering chroming it all like you did. I know you said before it was kinda pricey but what are we talking hear? Thanks in advance, I'm a huge admirer of what you did.

No it will not spring open. In the last post I included a link that shows some details on the tear down process.

These guys could be a solution for people wanting to get their alternator covers re-chromed.   cooldude

I am happy with the quality and all but for the alternator cover I think that you can still buy new ones cheaper than they could re chrome them (no I have not priced the re chrome cost at M&M but they are not cheap).

HDL will sell you new for 34.37.

COVER, ALTERNATOR (21333-MZ0-A00) (replaces 21333-MZ0-A00 )    $34.37

Besides the real problem is still that the alternator gets too hot and would bake off the new chrome in time as well.

The best fix, the one that I recommend that I have not yet indulged in, is replacing it with a nice aftermarket shiny metal cover that can take the heat.
