Hey strider, any plans for the Romp in the Swamp this year?  It was great last year, my first Valk gathering.  Looking forward to it again.

No romp in the swamp this year.  Strider has been working hard overseas, they have extended his work month from 4 weeks to 5 weeks.  No time to put it together.

Of course, we could just set a date and place and show up.  Cajun Country won't turn us away, you know.

I'm based more in central La.  Could maybe do a Cane River plantation type ride here.  Plenty of hotels local biker bar to terrorize.  I think mine is the only Valk ever been there.

If anyone is interested I can see what we can get for room rates.

But, do they have good food?  I could stay in a tent as long as good Louisiana food was nearby.

my gut feeling.......is IF....IF Strider REALLY can't do it.......maybe like PCB did one year, we should plan on doing it the same time....same place...as past Romps (ie, the same hotel in Lafayette as the past two years...maybe Halloween weekend again?)....and have it in honor of Strider. IE....they did that at PCB one year when Bryan wasn't going to be able to put on PCB...and in the end...they had something like 70 or so show up...and Bryan wound up not only coming...but putting some things together for the 'event' after all...in the end.

just my thoughts on this..................i have no dog in this hunt. I'm thinking if you have it at the same location, we can probably get the same hotel (they like us)....get the bar again....i'll offer to DJ....other folks can pitch in.....and bingo, you've STILL GOT A ROMP.....sort of.........and maybe if we plan a weekend when Strider is back...he can come....and maybe even put A LITTLE something togher...WITH ALL OF US HELPING...pitching in...

Just sayin'............  Cheesy  cooldude  Wink

I'm all for it!!!   cooldude

I do have a Jamabalaya pot ready to go if needed!!  (Feeds something like 50 people.)  I'll even throw in a little deer sausage (courtesy of myself and my brother) if we can find a volunteer cook!!

If we can't find a cook, I could cook it myself, but I'm not NEAR as good a cook as those guys we had last year!!!!!

Hell... I MAY actually have the Valk running in time... if I get to moving quickly!! Otherwise, I'll have to attend on my V-Strom... (AND, I'm sure, take a beating from the crew about riding a V-twinkie... )    2funny

Also, I live about 5 miles from the hotel... so I MAY be able to work out SOMETHING with them if needed... but I'm not a very good sellsman...   ???

Who wants to deligate???  I'm willing to help where I can!!!

first.............i'd like to hear from Strider himself. let him tell us what he can...or can't do....or does...or doesn't want to do....etc.

then pending HIS answer....we can go from there.........

you know i'm willing to do whatever needs to be done to pitch in. But i'd like to hear form Da' Man first!

Sorry folks!  Like Catfish said (Mrs Catfish) - I am 3200 miles into a week road trip so far.  Been checking out the 8th Annual Minnesota gig (WHICH WAS AWESOME) and heading down to the 5th (or 6th) Ranger gig.  Whoa Nellie!!!!  I am presently in Oklahoma heading to Texas and only left Minnesota yesterday and rode some awesome roads with TP yesterday.

Man, let me light back home and think about it....I have only had time to throw up a ride report when I can from a hotel room (The Minnesota folks have filled every minute of every day). Haven't been able to read the board much.  The gigs I have been grooving on have been second to none thus far.

Anywho, let me get back home and ponder on it.

Thanks for all the offers!  Trust me, it has been going in the background with me, just not a date or where and when yet.  I mean the hotel went up on the rates, under new management and Gwen is no longer there (she now runs a catering company) and the guy who wrote me wondering if we were going to do it (with the hotel - that took Gwen's place), should have used spell checker (or English checker).  The barmaid is no longer there. There are a few ideas being thrown around right now.  I don't know if I would do it the same time and same place.  We are running out of stuff there.  Anyway, crawfish season is coming up after the first of the year....let's see......I swear I will get back to you.  Let me just quit having to wear blue jeans for 3 days in a row right now.

Well, back to the road.......

STRIDER is working on it !  cooldude just to remind ya'll, he works on 5 week rotations in Africa and has been on a just short of a 2 week ride. he talked about some ideas with other LA riders this weekend and sounds like another "LARGE TIME" will be passed.  he has done 2 GREAT Romps and will not let ya down.  to all of you who have stepped forward to help, I hope ya get the chance.  these things don't just happen,  they take lots of time and effort.
