I found out from my Honda dealer that there is a company in Pennsylvania that will re-map the existing ecm for the Valk.  The guy that owns this company used to write the programs for the stock bikes for Honda.  The guy at Torq Loops is working on a set for the Valk as well.  Since I already have cobra pipes this should let me get some extra go go for this great motor.  I rode a F6B that had a bizazz unit and Torq loops with the same cobra pipes and WOW!!!  Can't wait to see what the out come is on mine.

Hell I was just going to replace the air filter with a K/N in an attempt to get a bit more juice...but found out how difficult it is to get to the air filter....The dealer will charge 1.5 hours to replace an air filter..

A Goldwing crap scenario evidently...

I bought the K&N filter and my dealer talked me out of installing it.  They were adamant that I would have maintenance problems down the road.

I disagree.  I'm largely disappointed personally that Honda did absolutely nothing to the engine to make it unique to the bike.  So basically it's a naked Goldwing.  Yay.....

I dont go overboard but I would like a decent exhaust with a good Power Commander map and a K&N filter.

That same company removes the 125 mph speed limiter too.  That's all I'd have them do.  You can adjust timing and fuel with the PC-V so I'm not interested in changing the factory setting on my ECU.

Since I see aftermarket stuff as being fairly rare for thus bike, I'd likely return it to stock when I sold it and sell the aftermarket stuff separate.  So I want my ECU stock capable.  Removing a Power Commander is free and way easier than paying to send my ECU to Pennsylvania

I think you bought the wrong bike if you need that much power.  I think the CBR1000RR is what you need.   2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny

I like the fact that the engine is a Goldwing.  That is why I bought it.  I plan to keep this bike for a long time, and that engine is bullet proof.

Ha.  I sold my Yamaha R1 a year or so ago.

Anyways, an extra point of compression and a little more aggressive cam wouldn't have hurt the engine at all.  Maybe instead of getting 400k+ miles on the engine you would only get 350k+.

A slight increase would maybe create negligible decrease in reliability.  I'm not asking for 12:1 compression and a duration long enough to make it sound like a race car.   Just anything over a stock Goldwing engine would have been nice.

The Valkyrie isn't a "power cruiser" unless a Goldwing is considered a "power cruiser."  Same power plant, a little less weight doesn't make a "power cruiser."

I guess it's all subjective but geezz...150lbs is not *a few pounds*...  The bike is much more then a naked Goldwing...steering geometry...wheelbase...etc..all very different..

Honda's idea was to keep the same power plant but build a lighter, better handling motorcycle around it...

And I believe they achieved that goal...

The performance imo is utterly satisfactory...

Buy another bike man if you don't like it...

I am very happy to leave it stock and I am deliriously happy all the way down to the H-Bars. I had a suzi 1100 warp bike once and this to me is the best of all worlds.

I'm sure I will buy another bike eventually.  Not is a hurry to do so.  There's no point since I've owned all the big displacement bikes from all the makers except Kawasaki.  I'll just play the waiting game until someone builds something interesting.........

Boooooo!! Grin  That's cool dude...the bike to me is extremely interesting...

I've always said that speed and power is just one favorable attribute to any motorcycle...What makes a bike great is the combination of ALL attributes..and the Valk seems to be add up quite nicely imo..

Been riding since 1974 myself! cooldude

Remember..there will always be a faster bike...a better lookin' chick, a stronger man, a better guitarist..etc...

The bike is powerful enough yes. Still, I went to Spain for a week, from Paris it is 1250 km away. It took me 12 hours each way. It was fine, a little bit too long though and today I thought that with my former (and beloved) BMW K1200 GT, I could count one hour less. I don't need a bike that goes faster (BMW S1000 XR  cooldude crazy2 cooldude) but if this one could go a little bit faster, I would not say no  Evil

Well I don't share the same riding style that seems to be popular here (twisty rodes, etc.).  Most of my riding is within 150 miles or so of the Mississippi gulf coast so not much twisty rodes anyways.  I like a bike that has brutal "traffic light to traffic light" power.  The Valkyrie does ok, it could use a little more but the exhaust/PCV/intake should fix that.   If anyone ever makes a good exhaust that is......
