I just did a 1600 mile trip from Ft Worth to Sante Fe then Taos and back. When the temps got in the mid 80's to mid 90's the old gal sputtered like she was out of fuel, I could shift to reserve and this would go away temporarily. When we hit the mountains and the temps were below 70; not a single issue. So from my auto wrenching days I would deduce  vacum and or fuel lines that leaks as the temps rise.
So I am putting her on the rack and changing all lines and checking the de-smog was done properly, carb rebuilds, petcock rebuild again, installing the Cobra lights that have been in a box for 6 months along with half a dozen other items purchased from members here.
I might also change the brake cables and do a tune up. Is there anything else that our resident Valk geniuses would advise while I have her torn apart. She has 32K and I have had her almost 3 years.

I'm just wondering why you are thinking about rebuilding the petcock again, I'm assuming its a vacuum style original.
To each his own, some do like the OEM fuel valve. Some swear by them and some swear at them. I'm one of the latter persuasion. Its not a matter of if it will fail, but, when.
I'm with John too on the brake cable thing.

When I said brake cables I was referring to hydraulic lines. She is 17 1/2 years old.
