So I'm driving down the road minding my own business and transmission on my 2000 valkiery makes a noise like somebody pouted a sack of gravel in it .  Didn't seize up so I got that going for me any ideas? It's at the shop right now and I'm waiting for the bad news

Most likely not tranny, more like u-joint or final drive neglect related.

Did the noise happen while accelerating, or decelerating?

Not likely transmission. Could be everything else. From the clutch down to the rear bearings.

It was mentioned neglect. You want that rear end taken apart, and all the parts lubed properly.

After you get your bike back, give a report, and find out EXACTLY what the shop did (if anything) related to the rear drive (splines lubed and with what? axle and pinion cup? U-joint?)

Thanks for the input. It happened when I was accelerating. It's got about 14000 miles on it. It was sitting in a storage shed when I bought it last year So I don't know how well it was taken care of

I agree, pinion cup and drive shaft.  $100 or so.  Can you get it back from the dealer?  They will charge way more than $100
