The stock interstate seat is a one-piece seat...meaning the driver's and passenger's seats are built into the same pan. Without a way to hold that back of the seat down (it fits in a spot under the trunk on the IS), it wouldn't work.
If you are talking about an aftermarket solo seat designed for the IS...then yes...the IS seat will fit the Tourer/Standard. But there will be a bit more gap at the tank than a seat built for the Tourer/Standard because of the size of the IS tank.

I have a stock interstate seat on my 97 tourer and it works fine. Since it is one piece the back isn't going to fall off. I love it, and probably will put one on my other tourer.

The back of the OEM seat is actually held on twice, once by the trunk and once by the strap over the seat. A lot of riders remove the strap because it complicates removing the seat. Without the trunk the strap would be a fine way to hold the IS seat in place. |

Thanks for the reply back, I got rid of my interstate and now have a tour and man my wife hates it so I thought I'd try the interstate seat first and if that doesn't work I guess I'll be looking for another interstate, thanks guys

You could always just add a trunk to your bike. I know my wife is more comfortable with it. |

If the front of the stock seat is soft, then you'll have to cut off the Helmet wire hook under the seat for it to fit. If you have an interstate tank on your tourer, I have a new Corbin Seat that will fit and have for sale. Same modification as described above. Gordon btmd1@bellsouth.net |
