I tried a little modification last week

This modification I did was to install the Dynajet needle jets in my bike. I set them on the 3rd notch as per the instructions. I have to say I'm very happy with the results. The bike seems to run smoother over all with a seat of the pants difference in acceleration. That was the only mod I did as I didn't want to take the carbs out of the bike to do any others. I'm sure I could have done the same thing by putting a shim under the stock needle. Now I just have to see if it affects my mileage over all. As of now I know it's worse as I'm liking the pull on acceleration from all speeds. I always thought my bike was running lean as I would pull the plugs and they seemed to white. I haven't checked them yet so far. My pilot jets are set stock at 2 & 3/8 turns out. It said to turn them to 2 & 1/2 out. I don't think that 1/8th turn would make that much difference but I just see how it works out for a while.

Interesting! I've always thought my I/S was a little rich but I haven't even looked at the plugs. I've wondered if the PO might have put in 38 mains. What kind of mileage do you normally get Dave ?

Around town and mixed about 32 mpg. On the trip to InZane I averaged 38mpg.

That's pretty much where I'm at also. I didn't calculate the Inzane trip but I think I might have been closer to 35.
