Went for a short ride.  Came home, opened the garage door and when I turned back to get on the bike noticed one hi beam bulb dead.

Can you believe it?  Into my 16th riding season and was still on the original bulbs.   cooldude

All the other bulbs are still original except the right front turn signal.  Don't know what was going on with that, but I bet I have replaced that one 3 times.

While I am in there, I will replace both with Silver Stars unless someone knows of a better bulb.  I remember reading where people didn't think the lifespan of the Silver Stars wasn't that great.  I put one in my Std back in 2006 and it's still good.  When that thing is on Hi beam, it's like looking into the sun.

Silver Stars have been aces for me for going on 7 years.

That being said....washed the bike tonight and when I stated it to put back in the garage....NO LHEADLIGHTS!!!! Pulled the fuse, was fine...wondering if the relay go wet?  Any ideas??

Will have to tear into it tomorrow after I get hime from work.

Heading out Friday for a 4 day ride to Tn and well.....

Done.  Wink

Four weeks ago today she had surgery...spinal fusion.  That's why I had to skip IZ.  She could walk faster than I cared to when we went to the store a few days ago.  She even went with me to the MC shop last week.  Wink  Spends more time out of the bedroom than she has the past 5 years.  I'm sure she will never be back to what was normal. On a positive note, the Dr said she could ride her bike in 2 months.  We both agree that may be pushing it quite a bit as the Dr doesn't know what it takes to hold up a Valk.  But maybe late fall?

The relay could of gotten wet.  That happened to the relay for my driving lights a few years ago.  The relay was just tucked in front of the battery.  I bought a new one and repositioned it so water couldn't get in.  Also put silicone sealer around the edge where water could get in.  Hasn't caused a problem since.

Tore into it this morning 4:30...fricken volt meter sh1t the bed...I do hear the relay "click" when power is on and changing from HI to low beam. Now the question is? Should I hear a "click"??? If I have to replace the relay, where can I get one? Auto parts store? Are the specific to valks??

racking my brain??

I am retracing my steps, new battery, threw the trunk back on *(was running super valk). Made all connections...could the intercom system short the head lights? Did not check that fuse??... All guages, signals, radio and dash work. Just head lights our??? Tail and brake lights work.

What am I missing????

If you pull the left speaker, you can get to the Hi/Lo beam switch connector. I'd check that for continuity with low selected before going after the relay, but here's the schematic in any case. The KISS method makes me think mechanical switch gooped up contacts before a solid state relay, but I didn't stay at any Holiday Inns lately.
