I have not done any investigation, yet.

When I warmed up my '97, today, I noticed coolant dropping off the end of the timing belt cover.  I let it cool down, removed the belt cover and started her up.  After a few minutes, coolant began dropping, running down the back side of the rear of the belt cover, not from inside. 
The coolant is clear  not contaminated, likewise the oil on the dipstick.
I suspect a hose or thermostat housing, but wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience, and what I might look for.

Check your upper hose that connects to the thermostat housing, that's the most common problem

Ditto. I too thought it was leaking from inside the timing belt housing but it was indeed the hose connection top middle of the engine.

FYI - you can see the hose clamp from the left side of the bike. Originally I had to pivot the radiator away so I could tighten the hose clamp, but while I was in there I re-positioned the hose clamp so it could easily be tightened with a long screw driver from the left side of the bike to make future tightening easier.

Thanks, guys.  I removed the airbox and fought the heat shield, but I got it tightened and, so far, no leak.  The hose looked swollen so I ordered a replacement.  Whenever I install I'll take that advice about repositioning the clamp.   cooldude

Yeah, I didn't know my way around.  The only info I had said to do it that way.  Live and learn, I guess.

it is very hard to get to the hose clamp in there, but I found that a 1/4" drive  ratchet, with like 6" extension, with u-joint and 3" extension (6mm socket) can do it if the clamp is positioned just right.  cooldude
