Hi to all my follow Valkyrie riders, this summer I'm working in Soda Springs, ID and the elevation here is around 5800 ft to 6400 ft depending on were you are riding, well anyway when I rode out here from Richland, WA, I was very surprise at how strong she rode, It was about 580 miles and it was the real first time I rode her really hard this year and she just seem to get stronger and stronger the more I pushed her, she loves the 80 mph speed limit in Idaho hell we were doing about 95 to 100 at some points, but the thing that has really surprise me was that I went for a ride yesterday and because of work I hadn't riden her for a how week, she was a little pissed at me she was giving me that look every time I left to go to work "what about me", so anyway I start her up and she fired right up and I didn't need the choke and I just blib the thottle a couple of times and she was running so smooth, I was thinking if I have been running a little lean down at sea level and when I got to higher elevation if that didn't even it out.  Just some thoughts.

It's so easy to adjust the carbs for different results. It's possible you're right. My Valk runs fine at any altitude. Other than less Oxygen high up, I see little difference.

Others have said that is why the min octane level changes from sea level to mountain top.

You're running 85 octane now, rather than the 87 you where getting back home?

I have gone over Loveland pass several times at 10'000+ feet on my Valkyrie, the only difference I could tell was better gas mileage!  Hoser   cooldude

Valkyrie's run on the rich side naturally and if you ride at higher elevations they will

tend to run more richly. The big difference is because of the CV carburetors. With the

thinner air passing thru the carburetor the slide does not ride as high thereby keeping

the needle jet in a leaner position.  Still, all in all the Valkyrie is still running on the

rich side.
