Lights work fine blinker works fine until I apply the brakes front or rear . When brakes are applied the orange lens stay dark until I let off the brake and they will start blinking again. The brake lights function properly.

Bad ground. I would check the wires under your rear fender for any fraying.

I've taken the battery box out and have checked out the fuses and bulbs. The bike would flash fine until I put on the brakes which results in the blinker going dead. I've taken the turn signal housing apart it seemed fine put it back together and the signals only flash once then I would have to switch the signal to get it to blink again and most of the time I would have to switch direction just to get it to blink.? I'm thinking concentrate on the switch and housing with wd40 and compressed air. But I also found the blinker relay it's making a reasonable loud click when the blinkers do flash . Has anyone noticed their blinker relay clicking like a cars blinker does. I never noticed this clicking when I was riding athough the engine and radio probably hide the clicking .

That's a sharp bike I like the chrome Valkyrie between the bars . Wanted to also mention that  I bought a repair manuel ( clymer .?) I guess this will help me locate the grounds that might be the culprit. This wiring is packed in there tight is there anything that needs to be handeled carefully?

If you have a Volt meter handy, take the lenses off and measure from the socket to the negative battery terminal while the flashers are operating, and again when you apply the brake. There should be almost no voltage rise at the shell that holds the bulbs in either condition. If there is, the ground is bad somewhere.

If the PO added a Kisan Signal Minder (SM-3), then you may have a disconnected ground wire.

In an earlier post you had stated that you had "amber running lights" and the dealer tech was going to "Gig" it for the inspection.  To make amber running lights and still have turn signals on a I/S, you would need a timer style relay. The Kisan SM-3 is such a relay.

The service manager said the relay is failing and when I applied the brakes . The brakes would rob the juice and the blinker relay would fail. He then said if you tapped the relay he could get the Valk to blink. Thanks I've enjoyed this club

The SM-3 is a timer relay that also allows the turn signals to function as running lights and turns off the turn signal at a predetermined time (dip switches on the relay itself).

The SM-3 has an option to use the turn signals (with required red lenses, that you obviously don't have) as running lights. Applying the brakes activates the timer relay delay function.

This is the same aluminum body relay that I had installed on my own Interstate. The OEM relay has a black plastic case. If yours is aluminum, then you have a Kisan SM-3 turn signal timer relay. If it is then you have a bad or broken ground wire.

I did, but now that I removed my trunk, I had to add a OEM std/tourer tailight. So I simplified my light harness, and added an LED array to the turn signals instead.
