Well, I finally did it.
Ordered an Austone Taxi tire and went for it....

I had 13,800 on the Cobra set...(!!!!!!).

Got a new Cobra on the front, and replaced the rear Cobra with the Austone. Put Ride-On in them both. I only had time for a short ride home (actually we didn't go straight home...my Valk, RUBY, gets stubborn when she wants to keep going) of about 25 miles, so initial impressions are:
1) As most have said, not so different from a MC tire in the way it leans
2) Again, as most have said, smoother and a bit more sure-footed
3) Since the new tires are different, they handle differently in rough patches, snakes, and where we have grooves in the road for winter driving, mostly on the Interstate.
4) Engine RPM are down about 300 at 65-75....

Initial impressions are very positive, but time will tell. Haven't been 2 up yet, or been any longer distances.

I owe many thanks to Damon for the recommendation, and the help getting them both installed.
You ROCK, my brother!!

Nice write up on the taxi tire. You might want to increase your shock setting when going two up. I have heard of one couple that bottomed out so bad they tore all the wiring apart that is up inside the rear fender at the rear fender joint. Some have rerouted all that wiring outside of the fender. You tear the wiring out you have no brake and turn signal lights. I guess this really depends on the total weight of the 2 up riders.  cooldude

I just removed my Austone and replaced it with a sport trac 3.  I loved the Austone, but it bottomed out too much for me.  I wish I had taken pictures of the rub spots while I had the wheel off, but forgot.  There were at least 4 places where it would rub, took the paint off the inside of the fender so I hit them with undercoating before I installed the new tire.

Other than that, you will love it.

We ride two up quite a bit on a Taxi Tire, just getting back from a Red Mountain Pass ride.  No problems with rubbing and we aren't petite folks.  I think the important factor is good shocks.  I'm running 13" Progressive 444 HD shocks, set in the middle.  Great smooth ride.

Great to hear, we are running the same shocks. With the taller tire, I was concerned that we may have rubbing issues.
Thanks for the input!!

Been D/S for a bit but now I'm on the A T T and I'm liking everything I'm feeling with this tire. Cow floaters of rain strong cross winds and crosswinds AND HEAVY rain and high sustained speeds-think S D interstate-and working the twistys-this tire has NOT given me one iota of concern. I would with out hesitation recommend this tire to anyone considering going D/S. Have yet to be two up with this tire but a shock adjustment would be in order after what others have posted-specially if said passenger was as heavy as I are!  2funny I DO NOT have stock in or work for A T T-BUT I KNOW a good product when I get a good product.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.
