"Never get out of the boat..."

« on: July 31, 2015, 09:25:51 AM »

Looking for a front fender rail guard for my '98 Valk...VERY hard to find! Any info would be much appreciated..
Well, I've tried to contact the MC Enterprises dealer down in Houston (got the link from here) and I'm very disappointed. I have called no less than 15 times, left VMs, written messages, and got NADA. Cant seem to contact anyone down there. Their website has the 660-13 but I'm not putting out the Benjamins until I can talk with someone...Classic Cruiser...don't know what's going on with those guys

Two were made, HONDA aftermarket, and MC Enterprises.

This is the one item I believe the MCE looks better than the Honda, it is more curved to match the fender profile, while the Honda is straight.

As far as I know, the MCE may still available, somewhere (not the Honda, unless found used).  (The MCE were made for a number of bikes, and you want to make sure you get the one made for Valk, I believe it is Part no. 660-13.

Not still listed in MCE official site. http://www.mcenterprisesusa.com/garage/blowouts.html

Well with that said Jess, is mine a Honda aftermarket or something all together different? Since it definitely is NOT the MCE model that you shared the link too.

I dunno, I've never seen that before.  I found what looks like yours on a UK site. http://www.valkyrieparts.de/Front-fender-guard-pipe-chromed

Besides what I mentioned above, a few guys have used this other other MCE which I have seen mounted on a Valk.

swabby420, unless your front fender came with a two tone paint job (strips etc.) put something, anything, on that front fender otherwise it's butt ugly. Stick a decal on there if that's all you can afford. It's the particular curvature of the front part of the fender that makes the fender look like well reminds me of a porpoise. The sides of the fender are contoured nicely. Unfortunately the side contours don't continue on and wrap around the front of the fender which would facet some flat planes on the curve.

The intermediate post at 'A' below, on an Oem, reinforces the upper and lower rails. It might not be necessary with the MCE rails, maybe those have larger (stronger) tubing. The purpose of the plaque at 'B' is to hide the front mounting bolt. (I've had rust spots form on the welds so I leave a layer of Turtle Wax on there without wiping it off). It's hard to clean behind 'C' since there isn't very much clearance around the spot the guard rails bolt up to the fork holder. At any rate, it'll take a little more effort cleaning the front fender from now on becuz you have to squeeze a rag between the guard rails.

Also, you might want to look over Jess from VA's earlier post in April, here.

Thanks Jess, that is exactly what I have mine shows some age on it and also the rear one but I have to remember my bike lives outdoors and chrome and aluminum don't get relief com this harsh Kaliforniastan weather. I do store it under a large canopy for shade.

Various Ebay sellers will also have those in various designs and condition.

What I really like is the bar/grill radiator cover.
