From what i understand aftermarket exhaust, jet kit ,air filter equals 7-10 hp gains, so why is everyone saying that when this is done to the valkyrie it equals a loss in hp. I've been searching all the threads looking for hard evidence but iam having trouble finding some. I just want know the best set up for maximum performance.

Left stock and properly tuned.

OR

Spend lots of $$$$$ for major intake, head, exhaust mods.
Spend lots of $$$$$ for Turbo or Blower.

Alternative

Just buy a bigger and/or faster bike.

Just my 2 cents worth, based on experience and $$$$ spent.u

Both the old and the new Valkyries have plenty of power. There's a place,
though, in the new Valkyrie's powerband, where, when you nail it to
pass a car or whatever, it "goes on the pipe"... this only happens when
you really nail it, which isn't my normal riding style, but I like it  Smiley ...

How did you reach that understanding?

It looks like the current way to get the most HP is with a turbo setup from moodyvalk, with the second best and far more common method being supercharging.  If you want to get the most out of a normally-aspirated Valkyrie, Attic Rat has a good reputation for tweaking for performance.

There have been claims of increased HP with some aftermarket pipes, but, the vast majority so a loss. Honda got this bike right.
If you want that 7-10 HP increase, pull a valve cover and take a look at which camshafts you have. The 49 state engines should have R1 cams, California models should have R2.  But, apparently many 49 state engines have California camshafts. Thats probably the best bang for the buck. Chillerman recently did an article on this, should be in search.

"correctly jetted" means shop tuning on a dyno or other such devise that can monitor and analyze a running machine, to verify what the changes have done?  In other words, $$$$$$$$$$$$.

only if one wants that last bit of HP at the top of the RPM range when racing. everyday riding one can be close enough by reading plugs and how the bike runs at different throttle positions. factorypro has great instructions on how to do it and there are many great plug reading instructions out there.
remember whatever carb tunning one uses is only good for that A/F ratio for + or - 25F.  and a dyno is not real world.
14.7 A/F is never what an engine wants or needs, it is only what the EPA wants so a cat will work by wasting fuel.
