Anyone know where I can get my hands on replacement Chrome Heat Shields for the Standard Exhaust ? I still have mine but the retaining straps on either end which are fixed to them are rusting badly, I've already welded one back into place which leaves a horrible burn mark on the outer chrome and I've lost another, rusted and fell off somewhere.
I'm just after the longer shield for the centre section of the exhaust and not the full set which I've seen on eBay
Thanks in advance

I have one for the right side... but it's kinda got a brown tint to it.. you can have it for free if you pay shipping

Another option is to go with a set of truck stacks.  You can slide them over the muffler and then you do away with the clamps altogether.  You will need to cut a notch in the back for the stock mounting bolts but a cut-off wheel or jig saw will handle that nicely.

One offering... http://www.airflo.com/valkyrie.html

Information on the installation process... http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/truckstackinstall.htm

I finished mine off with a set of Grumpy's tips...really finished the ends.  Monica put slash cuts on her bike.

I had one of the straps break on one side of mine as well. I thought about welding as well but knew with thickness of the heat shield it wouldn't look the way I would like.
I used one of these style stainless clamps (don't remember exact part number) and lined it right up to the edge of the heat shield and has worked well for a few years now.

Did they polish up ok ? Any marking from heat transfer ? This may be a handy temporary fix

Quietman,

Check out this post from Grumpy...  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,79995.0.html

Grumpy (aka Bill) is a metal fabricator who makes finishing tips for truck stacks.  Since he no longer has his website available, I tried to find a few pictures of bikes with his tips installed.

I would contact Bill via email (bgurneysr@verizon.net) for a better product listing and prices.

Yeah, they polished up better than I thought they would. No, they were almost unnoticeable, and no heat problems. I never intended to leave them on either, but 20,000 miles, and they were still on there cooldude

Several years ago I dinged one of mine.  I bought a spare from Mark T.  I don't think they are needed when his pipes are installed.

I talked to Mark at Inzane. He has piles of them. Give him a PM. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.  cooldude

eBay seems to have just about everything, as long as you are willing to wait.

That was true.  But they were in my way, weren't worth the trouble or space of storing and marketing them, so most have been removed from my shop and sold to the metal recycler and most of the rest used for raw material for metal sculptures.  I have a handful left.

As they say, he who hesitates doesn't get the heat shields!  Mark, I'm glad I met you at the Stagecoach in Franktown several years ago when you still had piles of them.

Got a shock at one stage though, contacted AirFlo for Stacks and wasn't a bad price, then came the shipping quote, $308.00 to Ireland with UPS, I though F**K, then they came back with $90 odd with USPS, just waiting on another option to come back to me first, then I'll move on it
