My CB is working well except for any voice transmission that I make is not heard. The weird thing is I can hear my rubbing of the mic sock but no verbal on another CB. I think Talk lever function is good and the mic is good.  Ive tried and checked two different helmet mics and both are functional. I've checked and cleaned every connection related to the CB. I've got my IS down to where all the CB wiring is exposed and nothing looks amiss. Help please!  Sad

I wish I could be more help.

What I did was have my local GW riders help me out at a weekly meeting I attend. Plugged in one of their working helmets, messed with the CB, and figured that the buttons were not working.

Spray cleaner and then lube latter, and they change now. Not great, but functional.

Sometime the CB over rides the radio 100%, other times it works properly, and I can hear talking when there is some on the CB. I still need to hook up my mic/speakers in my helmets.

If you can hear brushing noise from your mic, that means your Intercom volume is up and on, check the volume control, the intercom is the 2nd volume reading, you probably know this....Does the tx display on your dash when you try try to broadcast, if it does then the cb is trying to transmit...if not there is something wrong in the cb, check the antenna for tightness and has a good ground, sometimes you can receive but can't transmit when they are loose....generally when the tx comes up and you're not getting voice it's in the headset wires, meaning the cords, either the upper or lower...
I do have one cb that will not transmit unless I reset the channel either moving it up or down and returning to the channel I want to be on, then do the same thing with the volume control and then somehow it resets itself, everytime I turn the bike off and restart I have to go thru this procedure...hope some of this helps..

One thing it could be .....

I once accidentally got the mic turned aroundd the other way.... so I was talking to the back side.....

Once i turned it around it worked a lot better.... Wink

Also the mic's do go bad... especially if the headsets are original.....

i have a 99 IS, i have worked through a few problems on my own CB. you said every thing is working. just can not transmit. when they transmit switch is pressed your TX shows up in the display?. if so these few things might help. first check your helmet mike on another bike to make sure it is not the problem. if it works on another. then check your connection at the 5 pin there at the fairing. maybe dirt preventing a connection, or the pin its self is bad.  have had issues with the connector under the seat coming lose. it is what controls the transmit and receive on the CB. check it for lose fit and corrosion. check your com setting for you and a passenger. if set to high i have found it can cause problems with the CB. lower them, or turn them off to check the CB. also check your SWR if to high it will cause poor to no transmit problems. i have mine set and have no higher then .75 swr across the channels from lowest to high. did my dads CB on his Gl1800 and it made a great difference in our being able to talk both short and very long distances. Thank you all for your responses. I fussed some more this morning and it started to work.  crazy2  Don't ask what I did, but the very last thing I did was to remount the antennae. The TX showed up all along, I had good reception, the helmet mic worked on a different bike, all connections were cleaned, etc. Lots of frustration, but glad it works again. Time to reassemble my beauty.   Smiley
