Side cover tabs
«

Hi Fellows
I have a 99 valk I/S. The side covers (filling resevoir side) have a tab system that hold this cover to the bike. Always thought that it was a pretty Mickey Mouse system. Anyway, the small tab has broken and leaves the front of the cover loose. I have secured it with some electrical tape for now.
Is there any more secure means of attaching this cover, or simply repairing the tab?
Thanks to you all in advance
Roger

Some have used velcro as a fix. The link below show one repair that appears would work well. My tabs are still in tact, so I have no experience.

I had it taped but thought I should then start carrying a roll of duct tape in case my tape fails on my side cover. That's when someone on the forum said they did their with velcro-velcro it is.

Left side velcro works real good. The right side you have to be very careful where ya put it.
By that I mean so the 2 pieces meet, the one frame rail won't make contact in a couple of places.

If you still have the tab you can use plastic weld I've had good luck It's very strong. If you lost the tab yon can build it up with glue and sand it to fit
