Went to swap out the exhaust yesterday, which I've done before and found one of the nuts missing and another half undone.

I'm always tentative tightening them up as I don't want to twist off the studs. I found a nut in my stuff that fit and now I'll see if they are still available from Honda.

Would probably be a smart thing to check out my Clymers manual for the proper torque spec.  uglystupid2

About that. I have a 1/4" drive T-handle that I use. I realize snug for one person is too loose or too tight for another. 7 or 8 foot pounds I BELIEVE is the torque value ad I KNOW if I'm wrong others will chime in. Far as the exhaust nuts go-acorn nuts-as of May this year Honda still had them available. If you put in new exhaust gaskets check VERY frequently til the new gaskets crush into place. RIDE SAFE.

Anytime you put in new exhaust gaskets, you have to tighten and retghten every few hours until the gaskets get completely smashed or you loose her nuts

I have lost one or two acorns over the years.  I replace them with double regular nuts and lock them up.  Not as nice looking, but practically impossible to see anyway.  Anti-seize.  Those never move or come off.

I knew this had to be about (a) exhaust (b) air wings (c) private stuff.  Glad it's not c.  Gravity is against Valks on exhaust nuts.  Got to be vigilant about checking them. Helps that I rode dirt for decades...go over all fasteners every ride!

Hmm, this sounds like some kind of tragic accident......or you are thinking of busting, vs losing.

Oh my bad. Thought they were 8 mm hex nuts.  Well he was asking about the thread size, and that is 6mm.
