I spoke with the owner, seems I'm going to buy another IS! Bikes at a dealer, on consignment, but I got all the info I needed from the second owner (since 04'). But the color skeem is off. The papers show it as a 99' IS, GL1500CF. But they didn't come in this color or style, did they? ??? That bag pattern is from a Tourer. The pods never came painted. The color isn't listed as an option on a 99' IS, but a Tourer, as per Dag's web site. Could this be a custom paint job from the original owner, or even one of the 1st ISs made from Honda?? (I do see a fender brake light. The owner says it is a 6.9 gal tank). note: This pic is the way the bike is being sold, with ALL the goodies. Still 4 sale because it has 98K miles (US bike), but I know that is nothing. The wife likes the color too.

Very nice! Those side panels on the pods can be easily taken off & repainted. Looks like a very tasteful custom paint job. Watch the rotor and caliper covers, they keep a lot of brake dust that would normally blow away, an annual removal & caliper cleaning, at a minimum, will be needed. Enjoy!

Looks nice. Silver pattern on the trunk is also different, and it also has a text graphic painted on the lid (name, handle?). Has Interstate emblem on the bags...are the backs seamless?. Have seen IS's with the tail light added in place of the plastic cover. Looks to me like a Black IS re-painted with the Silver accents. If all's well with it, seems like a pretty fair price considering the options/add-ons it has. If you don't go for it Gord, let me know...might be interested in picking up a spare

I like the paint too.
But one always needs to make sure the reason for paint was not a wreck.

The VIN number will tell you whether it is an I/S, Standard or Tourer, the bag paint scheme is Tourer, the tank looks Standard or Tourer, but it may be an Interstate tank. Really nice looking Valkyrie.

If they were (still?) hinged, they wouldn't open past the trunk.
Best way to tell is not the hardware, but if there are seams down the back-middle (tourer), or not (interstate).

F$#K! Seems that the bike sold on Saturday. The buyer picked it up this morning. I called the dealer it was at, and seems it's gone. Hopefully the new owner from Coquitlam will post here, and we can find out more. It was listed on the dealers web site for 2 months at $5K, I check CL every night. If I had known, I would have bought it a long time ago. According to the VIN sticker, it said GL1500CF. But I'm playing a doubting Thomas until I see it myself. Unless Honda made this bike, I don't see someone back in 99-04' taking their Tourer and converting to an IS, including a gas tank, when IS where available to buy new. It had every option on it that I could think off, except the center stand (but the picture didn't show it), including the CB and fog lights I really wanted and are so rare to get. The only down side was 98K miles. The owner had a couple of extra items at home, so I let icandoitfaster know the guys # and he'll see what he can get off him. Good point on the seams on the bags. I know that the IS had no seam. I do hope to see it again. Not just the extras removed for their own bike.

Well, wouldn't you know it?? Just looking through CL, and what do I see? I'm sure it is the same above bike from last year. Called, made an appointment, and just looked at it tonight after work with the spousal unit. Well, guess what? I'm sure it's the same bike, and now I own it!! What a crazy world! I've been royally pissed that I missed it, that the dealer didn't point it out to me a month earlier when I was in the shop for a new tire after InZane 15 From what I can figure out, there has been 3 owners since it sold last year. I feel the first owner removed the CB, fog lights, and floor boards. The next removed items off the bike, but these went to the current owner. He bought the Cobra 6x6, and I'm getting all the loose parts along with the IS OEM exhaust. A real good deal. The bike is a GL1500CF, I just need to inspect the VIN or write Honda and find out more about the original color. Now to pick it up, and sell my Green IS

thats cool you finally got the one of a kind paint scheme bike you desired. For 5K or so cannot go wrong.
I seen a 2003 stock standard all black with a few goodies thrown in with only 23K miles he needs to sell he said within 3 weeks since moving out of state and is locally within 1 hour drive of me wants 3.5K appears to be in very good shape. He also has a near new cobra 6x6 exhaust for 480 bucks and like new saddleman seat for 180 bucks. I have not seen even a stock standard Valk with higher mileage sell for less than 3.5K and this is a newer 2003 standard nicely equipped with only 23K miles.
Maybe I can stop at the last minute and get all for 3.5K total? I think even 4K with the cobra exhaust/extra seat would be a good deal? Agree?
Having 3 vehicles, then possibly 3 on 2 wheels, and another 2 ATV's though is pushing my available space in a city lot for sure. I could try fitting one Valk in my enclosed trailer with 2 ATV's but that would be a very tight fit.

Sure looks like the same bike to me.
No way that's a converted tourer or standard, if that's what your thinking. The amount of work it would take is ridiculous.
Vin #, wiring harness , air scoops on the crash bars, are just a few ways to tell.
Even 100k on the odometer ain't no thing, barely broke in.

Buy Robin's Interstate! Robin keeps his machines in excellent condition. At least you know you are buying it from an upstanding guy.

I agree. I'm wondering if the previous owner did it for the money, why he didn't also remove the caliper covers and over assorted items.

I figure that the complete CB, Fog Lights and the possible Cobra floor boards, is close to $1500 USD. There is 2 flags masts missing. The current PO bought from a guy locally in Surrey, and the papers showed the previous owner from Coq.
That about covers it from being sold last year to a guy in Coq. One or all of them removed something from the bike they wanted to keep. The current PO is a Harley mech. After driving it this year for 3K, he's going back to his Harley. Giving me all the parts he has loose. Brake light, OEM exhaust, the passenger arm rests, center stand, can't remember what else. Will wait for the bike.
I figure the 1st bought it for the parts, then flipped it again for $5K or less, after taking what he wanted for his own bike. The second, nothing known, but he took most of the current items that are loose, off the bike.
I have a CB already, no proper ant. Floor boards, wont miss. Would have liked the Fog Lights and flag masts.
He lost one side cover, the right side, but he had a chrome spare. Now I need to figure out if I want a matching chrome, or black. Again, wait to see what I pick up tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words, people. My new bike is now home. I think I'm currently one of those rare breeds, a multi Valkyrie owner. For now, my Green IS is going to my brother. He'll ride it and see if he wants to keep the ACE Tourer, or come over to the Valkyrie too.
