Have had my Valkyrie undergoing some long time maintenance (Carb rebuild). Put her all back together and started her up and took her to get a state safety inspection and registration. All went well until the return trip home when she suddenly shut off. Shifted to neutral and hit the start button started back up no problem. Got home let her idle a bit reved the throttle and she shut off second time? If the battery is not taking a charge would that be the culprit? Trickle charged the battery before the trip. The idiot light showed it was charged. Battery is 2  1/2  yrs old and has sat idle for 1 yr with periodic charges.

Battery has zeRo to do with it IMHO if it didn't have enough juice to keep it running it certainly wouldn't have enough to start the beast.

But loose battery connections Can make for intermittent ignition amps

True but if it started right away after dying doubtful in my book.

I think that I would check the shutoff switch on the right handlebar control. When it is in the 'Run' position the contacts are closed.  If those contacts open, due to corrosion, vibration, etc., the engine will shutoff.

Sure it's electrical not fuel system related? I'm wondering since he just had carbs apart.

It's electrical......And probably the kill switch. If it was fuel, it wouldn't just stop running. It might stall if it was fuel, but, it wouldn't just stop cooldude

Winterhawk haven't heard from you in forever. Don't know if you remember me but wife and I met you and Disco Dave in Centerville at Woodys to hand off the banner of the first Hammer run. Good to hear from ya.

The ignition system grounds on the frame. The starter grounds to the battery. Mine would sometimes die and the starter worked fine. The ground between battery negative and frame was bad. A short wire fixed that.

I didn't know if you wood remember us. Denise is doing pretty good some days better than others. She's is a trooper and tries to not let it get her down. We have almost 5 grandkids now ( one due  any day now)  so the good days are spent between them  and me. How are you doing.
