Jerry & Sherry Sheffer

Ok so in 2009 Sherry and I were visiting UK and France. We fly from Heathrow to Charles de Gaulle grab a cab and tell the driver, Arc de Triomphe, Please and off we go. We liked Paris way better than London but most of our trip we tried to stay away from the tourist and big city stuff.  We find a restaurant near Notre Dame that has the menu in English. Bingo!!    Ok here is where the Facility Manager part comes in.  I use the men’s room and go to wash my hands.  I am looking at a sink that is like no other I have ever seen, it is very boxy, very shallow, vary wide and very deep (front to back) with two bars one on the right and one on the left.  I lather up with soap and thinking it has an auto eye to turn on the faucet…. Um, No!  Ok these bars have to be for towels, RIGHT?  Yep.  Foot pedal?  Nope!  Soap is now dry!  So here is what I said to self. I am a Facilities Manager and I can’t figure out this sink! Follow the plumbing supply Dummy!!  OK!  Ahhh under the sink and to the right is a stick shift just like John Boy Walton’s Truck. It sticks out almost to the front edge of the sink. Down and to the right Cold……………………….

I hear that in France the faucets are marked "C" and "F" for cold and freezing.

Good story, my father (AWS) started as a plumber in Milwaukee, WS as his father did (Union) (steam fitter in ship yards of Chicago) digging trenches and smelting pipes, worked on the Bradley clock tower downtown and for Wade &  then to ATL then to New Jersey and finally AL for JR Smith International VP of sales.  I wish I could share this story with him as he passed two years ago may he rest in piece~

@jerry : I don't really understand the whole story but it looks really funny ; some kind of a hidden camera show ? A tourist trap near Notre-Dame ? Maybe you should have gone to the ladies room and ask for help ?  angel

Now that's funny and even more so when I think about all the times I have done a similar thing. I have seen those sinks by the way here, now you solved a mystery where they originated from.
