Probably a stupid question but if I don't know, I don't know.
What's the difference between a Valkyrie and an F6C ?
Thanks

There was some reluctance to call it the Valkyrie in Europe, so it got two names (and tank badges).

They are basically the same, however, there are several small (and maybe not so small to you) differences between the Valkyrie and the F6C.  The F6C has a more restricted air intake box and a more restrictive exhaust.  The main jets in the carbs are much smaller to compensate for these restrictions.  The F6C has an electrical switch on the throttle shaft at carb number 5.  I forget what that switch is for.  The F6Cs do not have the smog controls (Pair valves ETC).
And as has been said, the mirrors and tank badges are different.

Dag at http://valkyrienorway.com/ used to have a great website for this information.  You might try to contact him.

Oh, almost forgot.  In Japan the F6C had a reverse gear (as an option).

Sorry if I worded that in a way that was misleading.  The actual box is the same on the outside but the F6C has a bit of foam in the top of the air box lid.  That foam is not there in the Valkyrie.  The Valkyrie is technically an F6C but it was tweaked to fit American regulations while the ones with the F6C tank badge were tweaked to fit regulations in other countries.

I found Dags page on differences:  http://www.valkyrienorway.com/MODEL%20DIFFERENCES.html

Thanks very much for the info. The chap I bought mine off seemed quite offended when I called it an F6C.   Embarrassed

The plot to assassinate Hitler in WW2 was called Valkyrie that is why Honda chose not to use the name in Europe in case it offended anyone.

This also raises the question as to why the F6B in the current line up is NOT a Valkyrie.  It should be.  The current Valkyrie should, for all intents and purposes be a Valkyrie Rune if you follow the design origins and obvious similarities.
The F6B has more similarities with the original Valkyrie (F6C) than does the Current Valkyrie IMHO.

What a great thread.  Lots of new (to me) information.  At Inzane in 2007 (Johnson City) there was a guy from Manchester, UK who shipped his Valkyrie here for the rally.  I remember some differences, but didn't know about the intake system changes.  Interestingly, this Valk lover, "Mick Manchester", visited all 48 states in 9 weeks, blogging and posting videos along the way.  Now that's a ride!

I agree the F6B should have been named Valkyrie.  My F6B reminds me a lot of my '98 Tourer.

Comparison, at Honda: http://powersports.honda.com/2015/gold-wing-valkyrie/compare.aspx
Valkyrie has larger wheels, sits a bit higher, and, without all that plastic, is lots lighter, than the F6B.
