I have a set of TBR 6x6 pipes that I'm going to install soon and am wondering about any tuning that some of you may have done with your set-ups. I currently have stock exhaust, stock trigger wheel, stock air filter but do have interstate springs in my otherwise stock standard carbs. The header pipe openings of the TBR exhaust are much larger than the stock pipes and since I have never seen a cross section of the baffle area of the TBR pipes I am not sure of the overall effect of the change. I already know the general consensus of the horsepower differences between Cobras, Mark T's, ect, but since I have the TBR pipes I am mainly interested in what works best with that set-up.

Just my $0.02, but it's based on personal experience.  Get yourself some good earplugs.   Wink

It's my understanding that you don't have to do anything else to the bike.  They were on mine when I bought it and I made it 16 months and about 15,000 miles before I yanked 'em and went back with stock.

That said, I now have two relatively quiet bikes.  So, to remedy that, I have accumulated all the necessary bits and pieces to build a separate pair of (24") glasspacks that will look like stock IS pipes.  Should be fun.

BTW, if yours are the same 6x6 pipes I had (turnout at the ends), I don't believe there are any baffles.

I've been running stock exhaust for 9 years. ready for a change if only for a little while. I figure the TBR's may be too loud but I have 2 additional sets of stock pipes that are uncut so I can always experiment with the glasspak mods. I might even have Mark make his set-up for me before he gives it up.

I spent a number of years on an 8" Howitzer crew, it took two men to carry the shell to the loading ram and the range was determined in part by the number and size of the powder bags put in the breach after ramming the shell. If you had your ear plugs out when it went off your ears would ring for days. The concussion of the blast would rock you back on your heels. Hopefully they are not any louder than that! Grin

I had TBR on mine, and still do. I did not like the sound and setting car alarms off all the time. I cut the ends off and removed the baffles, put 6 inch car tips on. These pipes sound great like this, not to loud and all the sound goes out the back. Just something to think about, works great for me.

I've had TBR 6X6 on mine for 115.000 miles.

You won't need to make any changes to your fuel delivery system.  I do run a Dyna 3000 ICM, but it wasn't required for the pipes.  I alos use a K&N filter without the pre-filter.  Again it was a later add on, not a requirement.

The bike runs better with the TBR pipes than with the stock.

I don't really understand the talk of how loud they are.  They only get loud at higher RPM's.

You're going to be very pleased.

I have to agree with Willow.  I had TBR's on my last Valk and I did not think they were that loud.  Only when you get on the throttle.  I have Cobras now with no baffles and they are loud.  The TBR's sound good.

lol!  That sounds reasonable as anytime I spent in front of Raymond, my throttle would definitely have to be wide open.   2funny

I have 110 k on my Tourer. K&N, no pre-filter seems to run well and I like the sound. Never had to mess with the carbs either.
Sadly, my header areas are pretty rusted and being single walled, it's a matter of time before they'll start to look like Aunt Mildred's doily work. You know, that lacy, held together with rust look! Wink
Soon either I will be putting on a set of oem's which are lounging in my garage that are in tip top shape, or wanting to trade for a good used set of TBR6X6's.

I transfered to the M50 A1 tank with 105 mm and that was like a pop gun after the 8". But it did get busy inside the turret when it starts to fill up with hot brass.
