My Niece is getting married the 11th in Keyser Wv. about an hour and a half away. I had already said we were going to take the bike, now it just makes more sense. Love it when a plan comes together.   cooldude

I saw this and I was excited...until I saw the school calendar, last day of school is 6/17 and my daughter is a (HS) senior, I can't miss graduation, but just might be able to be there for some other festivities.

it's not in my backyard, but it's not sooo far that it would be trouble.

Seniors in NJ going until mid June?  In WI,  they are out for sure by first week in June or for Seniors,  they get out 1 week early usually last few days of May.

Either way,  WV is some pretty scenery, good choice.  Just be careful on all those switchbacks in the mountain ranges, some have steep cliffs and water going over the road even when sunny out.  Just hope no one gets stuck behind a semi in those twisties since passing is at times almost impossible for more than a few miles.

My son's HS grad is on June 28th. Mentioned it to the wife, she said "I'm sure you'll be back in time". Didn't question at all. Love that woman.  Grin

Just hope I have no mechanical or weather issues on the way home!

After last year, wife said 'No More!"  Of course, I was gone 2.5 weeks.

IF I can get away, will have to be a quick trip.  Only about 1400 miles one way.  I might be able to do that all safely in 10 days and not kill myself.

Will just have to wait and see.  Sure would hate to miss one.

I am looking forward to being there, hoping to see everyone
one more time.
Seems all I have to do is go about a mile to rt70
and hit the the cruise control and follow my nose.
Glad I got my nose fixed so I no longer go in circles.
It is a great place to ride and cool in the mountains.
Just like last year in South Dakota bring all kind of gear.

I haven't told Barbara yet, we had a rotten situation happen this year at graduation time.

A friend of ours was at a motorcycle event in NC...it was a Harley crowd, but not the reason for the events that happened.  Our friend and his good friend were both hit by a car as they were walking across a street to a all night restaurant/diner.  This happened at 1am on Father's Day this year, his son was graduating HS on Monday. He was to be home some time Father's Day and graduation, so I know he wasn't drunk. Both men died on impact at the scene.

So, I'm going to make my reservations when it's time but not say anything to the Missus until the time is right, no need for her have all these months to stew and be worried/concerned.

Hey, Evan...I hit one of those road hazards after Inzane this year also---about a hunnert and 10 pounder!

The wife has a fascination with the backwoods of the south. With Kentucky, and Tennessee nearby I might be able to talk her into going on this one. I can already see lazy rivers, covered bridges, trees, and great pie in my future.

There's a great covered bridge near Lewisburg (kind of far away in the State)
that the road still goes over...

I can't decide between Yee Haw and Woo Hoo!

From motorcycleroads.com: The Best Routes: West Virginia

From ridermagizine.com: West Virginia is for riders

From wvcommerce.org: "Miles of winding roads"

And there's lots more info out there on the interweb.   Wink

Just got my Valk IS this year and I'm always looking for an excuse to ride  Smiley  I've never riden in any state east of Colorado so this ride will make a significant dent in my riding bucket list. Hope it all works out!!

Mike,
I live a few miles from you in White Rock, BC and am hoping to make the ride out east as well.  I'm beginning the process of getting the time off at work (I'm a teacher).  Perhaps we could make the 5400 mile round trip together.

When it comes time to start planning the route, feel free to contact me at icandoitfaster@shaw.ca
cheers,
