That's 4500 kms, or 2700 miles from beautiful Maple Ridge BC, Canada. After waiting 14 years to make our first Inzane this year in SD, am planning on making it two in a row ... hopefully it works out. Pretty sure the trusty old IS will be in shape to do that ride and back, just have to make sure the body is... lots of time to get ready and do a few push-ups, etc Grin Grin   Looking forward to a first visit to that area!

BUT, my step-daughter is getting married on the 18th....

That's makes it doable.... can be easily home for the rehearsal dinner Friday night!

That's a long trip! I was thinking my 2700kms would be a lot!

I'm hoping to go. Maybe I could meet up with some other Canadians or someone from one of the northern states. Or could do a solo trip too.

That area would be great to see.

Love the choice of Morgantown, WV for InZane 2016.  We've been to the Mountain fest Motorcycle Rally in Morgantown at end of July a few times and love it.  Great roads and beautiful place to visit.  We plan to attend.

Never been to W VA.  Lookin fwd to it.  Problem, no reciprocity to CO.  But I see there is for UT.  And some others.  Need to see about a non-res, UT is "may-issue".  Need to do some checkin to see which other states have reciprocity I need, and also which are inclined to issue.

CORRECTION - Looks like that's old info - with more checking, CO & WV have reciprocity now.  Just need to drive around IL.  I already do that, have for years.  IL gets NONE of my money.

We stayed there this summer and the area is very beautiful while heading down south to Washington DC the next day.  Sure wish we had more time to see the beautiful mountain ranges there and other views/places of interest, mostly south of there.

Yep. Black Hills has been the only close one to me.  Others, long day ride to WI.  ALL the others, 3 days, 1600 to 1900 miles one way!  Most of the Valkyrie rides live east of the MS river.  Turnouts are much higher in the east.  The west coast riders, who do not want to travel, need to get their own mini rallys going.

I love West Virginia. I wish I had made it to Spearfish, but our mountains have
trees with leaves on them  cooldude ... our mountains are old and worn
down, but they're covered with curvy roads  cooldude ... there's tons of
really nice West Virginia people. And the occasional weird thing to see
in that part of West Virginia like mountain-top removal coal mining. A
lot of people don't like that, I'd guess particularly the folks whose
Grandfather's house used to be on the mountain that is no longer
there, but it is a spectacle to see... it is sad for me to go down the
curvy road in West Virgina where my Grandfather's house still is,
but at least the road and house and mountain are still there...

Here's the link to the 2016 Valhalla Rally - next year in Anacortas, WA. Traditionally held the weekend after Father's Day each June, this has been held in various locations in WA and BC Canada for a number of years. Usually see up to 40 or so Valks from several Sates and a couple of Provinces...a real good bunch of folks, fantastic riding, and a lot of laughs. This I year managed to fit in both Inzane and the Valhalla which was in Soap Lake, WA...with a short one day visit home in between...was a very good June  Smiley

Some people see a challenge that is insurmountable

Some people see an opportunity

The trip from Elk Grove California (near Sacramento which itself is near some terrific motorcycle riding )
to Morgantown WV could be viewed as the trip of a lifetime

I always say you have to make your own memories. Such a trip would be bound to create some great memories such as outrunning a Tornado, the sound of hail bouncing off the helmet (please use the helmet during hail storms)  counting rows of corn, guessing the height of a storm cell to the south that just may intersect your path in a few hours  or not.

There will be time for reflection during that long straightaway from the front range to the east of Ohio  so instead of moaning about the distance, think about playing with maps and drooling over all the things to do on the way there and back.  if you are short of time reach out to a member to have your bike shipped home (it costs less to ship than to ride- well except for the flying yourself home part maybe)  and once in Colorado there will be plenty of folks to ride with and unless there is another tragic boating accident you will be Very safe

I hit 100,000 on the way home from Inzane this year. Had been hoping to do it in Deadwood but for the road hazard in Iowa

Well sorta.  Might COST less to ship unless you put a value on actually having your bike. Be careful who you pick to ship your bike.  Or it may take a 6 week vacation by itself, like my tourer presently is.

That is excellent news!  I just hope they got all the rain out of their system this summer, as it rained almost every day there in June.  Keep your fingers crossed.

There is a ton of things to do in some great riding in that area.  Cheat Lake, Cooper's Rock, Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rock (site of one Hillbilly Ride) and the beautiful state of Pennsylvania is right next door.  There is whitewater rafting outfitters on both the Cheat river and at Ohiopyle in PA.  Plus Pittsburgh is only about 2 hours north.  Looking forward to this one and getting back to the ol' stompin' grounds.  We used to drive from Pittsburgh to Morgantown to buy beer when the drinking age in PA was 21 and 18 in WV.  I'm surprised I survived all that!

I saw this and I was excited...until I saw the school calendar, last day of school is 6/17 and my daughter is a (HS) senior, I can't miss graduation, but just might be able to be there for some other festivities.

it's not in my backyard, but it's not sooo far that it would be trouble.
