Good morning all,

I've fallen victim to the smoked starter solenoid. My question is about a replacement. Are the brand X solenoids any good, has anyone had good luck with them? Or is this a stick to OEM type of part?

The starter relay plug ? If so I think RJ posted a cheap fix with a GoldWing relay years ago. If I remember someone else used a Ford relay. But to answer your question , I don't know but they are cheap enough that I would give them a try.

I've got one in the saddlebag. I'm on the bike daily until the roads start freezing. No matter where you breakdown you won't find any parts in stock. This one is so small I thought why not have one with me. So far I've never used a part I carry so it's good insurance for my bike Smiley

Thanks for the replies. I ordered two on eBay, for $16 each. We'll see how it goes.

Thank you Gordon, I had ordered them just before i saw your post. I don't think I'd buy a used one. They're probably not far from where mine was as far as life expectancy..... Wink

Definitely something to carry in the bag, Bone.

Meathead, the plug is definitely smoked. I'll either get the Honda plug ($22!!) or individual spades to another connector. I'll make a couple and carry extras.....

Grin I've been carrying around wheel bearings, light bulbs, rear end o-rings, headlight plug, metal tire valves for years now and haven't used any of it. Now I'm thinking I need a starter relay to carry around.  Shocked  Grin
