Is there a specific brand of rabbit ears that is better than all others?

I don't want cable and I don't want satellite. I'd like just the local channels.

If you're in the US Britman the digital converter boxes can really help. My TV in the shop doesn't have cable - hooked the box up and I'm getting a lot more channels than before with cable-like clarity.

As far as Rabbit ears, I've always liked Jessica Rabbits.  Smiley

You just plug the converter box into the back of a TV and hey presto free TV?

I'm in Atlanta.

I tell everyone I have wireless TeeVee...

Anyhow, $40.00 converter box and a Radio Schmuck antennae on the roof. I get lots of
Channels and I live at the dead end of a dirt road in Oconee SC... I bet you should get
a lot of good over-the-air channels in Atlanta.

A $12 antennae with rabbit ears and a uhf loop from Radio Schmuck should do fine, the
fancy-schmancy high-tech looking ones for $50-$75 probably no better, maybe worse...

The last one I had had a knob to turn that helped for fine tuning, don't know what the knob did.

That's all I have is an antenna in the attic, I had to get the converter box cause I have an old TV. Do you have a newer TV that is HD? I got the box and about doubled the number of channels I was getting before. We are in Auburn Ga. about 12 miles from Lawrenceville so with the rabbit ears you should get 2,5,8,11,17 and 46 for sure. Maybe 14 and 36, I got an RCA brand box and you press the right buttons and it programs the channels that it receives. I had to take off channel 34-Univision but don't know if you will get that one or not since you aren't that close to Athens.

Happy hunting, I don't watch much TV these days, on the computer all the time if I'm home.

I have an antenna that I bought to get the local channels in high def with my dish.  I don't have any use for it.  You are welcome to it.  It's a big square sucker and mounts in the attic.

Thanks for the suggestions one and all.

Is there anything that will work without me having to run cable from the attic?

If you are interested, I have a brand new, in the box, never used Zenth DTT901 Digital converter box I'll sell you for $10 plus shipping (from MN).  We purchased the converter and then received a digital TV as a gift and thus never used the converter.

Attic (or rooftop) is best, but if you have lots of good signal $12 set-top rabbit ears might be good enough.
That's how I watched TeeVee out here in the sticks for for years, and you're in an urban center...

if you live in the city, rabbit ears MAY suffice. if you live in the country...like me, rabbit ears will NOT suffice. I'd go here...and see what they recommend for your area...

http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29

let's you figure out how much signal you should have in your area...play with different antenna heights....tells you what kind of antenna/what signal strength you might expect...etc. Tells you which station in YOUR area have WHAT coverage.......

great stuff.........
