I ran into another Valk rider today who said there is a new set of gears to give better fuel mileage but they are taller.  Anyone know good/bad about changing from the stardard gears on the Valk?

A guy in I think it was Italy named Mario had them machined and I think 4th and 5th were replaced.  Seems as if you lost too much torque, not sure though if this was the issue.  You might do a search in the archives for Mario gears.

They are Mario gears, they are across the pond & they are expensive,

Before ya get all happy & crazy with your loose change, talk to Bill Ferguson aka BigBF.

I wonder how many of those are still on the road in the US? I installed several sets for people, but I don't hear from them anymore. So, I wonder where they went?

Jeff, I know BigBF's feelings on the gears, what is/was your take on them? Did you install a set for your Interstate? The $995.00 for the gears would have choked me up but the install is what scared me the most.

This is what I wrote up on it way back when I installed them.

http://www.jkozloski.com/Mario%20gear.htm

I never installed them in my bike because I was spending tons on money on making more horse power. I didn't see the need. Mileage was never much of a concern of mine, Hp was.

I rode a few of them. With superchargers and without. If you like the power, you will be disappointed, but I did not find them to be as horrible as Big BF did. I had my Daughter on with me and we were passing cars in fifth gear at highway speeds without a problem.

Though it is really a moot point, they don't sell them in the states.

Mario Moto in Italy makes this Over Drive Kit.

This is a modification, which was studied and developed by Mario Marinaro. The modification consists of a kit of gear wheels that are to replace the originals inside the gearbox. The autonomy, that is to say the distance covered with the same amount of fuel is increased and depending on your type of driving. Only at high speeds (over 160km/h will the consumption be equivalent to pre modification levels). This modification also reduces vibration and the end result is that it makes your bike feel like a limbo on two wheels. The wokmanship on the gear wheels is guaranteed for unlimited kilometers just like the originals.

Lamont; I went to Italy to test drive a Valkyrie and a Gold Wing with the new transmission developed by Mario Moto. It is an overdrive transmission with a new 4th and 5th gear. http://www.valkyrieriders.com/deathride.htm

The workmanship on the gear wheels is guaranteed for unlimited kilometers just like the originals.
What if you drive in miles, not kilometers?  Is the guarantee void?
