I have been noticing that with this new fuel  the carbs are getting harder to clean. After doing so many sets of carbs over 600 sets I keep running into these carbs that the vat will not get clean so I purchase a Ultrasonic cleaner to clean the carbs. Man what a difference it makes with the ultrasonic cleaner. They look brand compared to the harsh carb vat. I have a set of carbs that I did last week and could not get them cleaned. No matter what I did I couldn't get the bike to run on #4 cyclinder. I  put them thru the vat twice but could get them to flow fuel. There is something stopped up internally so I am going to try the ultrasonic cleaner on them when I get time to do so.

The smallest orifices that I know of are the three 0.010-0.015 holes near the butterfly that meter in fuel just off idle. As I recall they're right-angle drilled into the carb body and the access hole is then plugged. I've shotgunned them with cleaner in the past but was never sure that they're unplugged. Do you suspect these or are the other orifices that concern you? I've always been amazed what an ultrasonic cleaner can do with plain water let alone a good cleaner.

We use an ultrasonic cleaner on our carb work at the store.  We see a lot of engine driven welders that have carb problems from the ethanol gas.  They work well.

Less mess and less chemicals.

Hydrocarbons do not do well, trying to dissolve organic substances like fungi and algae, which are

usually the contaminants in ethanol enriched gasoline.

I used an Ultrasonic cleaner with Krud Kutter when I cleaned out the carbs on my last build. Worked really well.

How about free delivery on larger orders? Or pre-order the qty required, delivered to your local store for pu.

5 gallons??  How big is your ultrasonic unit? Mine holds about a half gallon, maybe a bit more. So far I've used plain water and Purple Power at about 25% of the mix. Since I may have to redo the carbs on my 1200 project, I'll probably go with Krud Cutter if I can find it around here. What strength do most of you use with that?

John make sure you get the one with the gray label that says parts cleaner and can be use with ultrasonic cleaners. I haven't ran mine yet just took out of the box tonight. It is 19.5 long 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep. I can get more than 3 carbs in it at one time. if I position them right I maybe able to get all 6 in at one time.

You can find Krud Kutter at Wally world. I used a 50:50 mix when I did my carbs, jets and other miscellaneous parts. For the really nasty bolts and parts that I kept for the last run, I used 100% KK, did a fantastic job.

OK, Tractor Supply is good. I can stop at WW on the way just in case since it's in the same direction. Wow....three carbs at once. Mine is nowhere near that big; one carb body and a few assorted smaller items. Maaaybe two if I leave out the small stuff. Thanks for the mix suggestions Big Poppa....and by the way, I'm loving that red/black more every time I see it.  cooldude

I use an ultrasonic cleaner for vault time locks at work. Didn't think about other uses ... hmmmm....

Yes, you disassemble as far as you can to clean.

I do about 6 to 7 sets of carbs a month, and I have noticed a change also. A lot of them have deposits that almost look like calcium buildup.  A white substance appearing  around o-rings etc. it is a pain to get off some times, I also use an ultrasonic cleaner with good results.

Grumpy try the Krud kutter parts cleaner it will dissolve that stuff that we are seeing on the carbs from this new fuel. I have also notice a green deposit in the body and float bowls that carb cleaner won't clean but the Krud kutter will dissolve it

I will give that a try, been using purple power, used to work great but does not seem to cut the calcium buildup.
