went for a ride thru the countryside today, just county blacktop roads and side roads... nice ride and i found myself in a nearby town that happened to have an Aluma trailer retailer so i stopped and walked the lot and lo and behold there was a "mctxl" with smooth black panel sides!! i looked it over and was really impressed by the build quality and was blown away by the size of the box! that thing looks HUGE inside, like damn near too big... it's only about 45" wide overall so it'd only be about a foot or so wider that the bike and i'm not concerned about the length of the box (okay i am being mindful of it for the sake of loading the trailer for proper balance) but honestly the extra 12" of body length (57" vs 45") compared to the std. mct probably isn't going to make that much of a difference... these trailers have been on the market for a long time and i've read a lot of positive comments about them.... it's been there for a while, the build date on the tag is 10/09 so i'm thinking that they may be willing to throw me a good deal simply to move it... i had to look twice, it looks like a freshly built trailer! anyway i'm hoping that they are tired of looking at it and will price it to move! fwiw i can go to des moines (about an hour away) and get a std sized mct in a brandywine color that looks like it'd match my bike pretty well. just the same if i can get a deal i can live with black so i'll see what they say on monday when i call.
this leads to the main reason for my post, trailer hitch and wiring... i'm figuring on a hitchdoc with the removable drawbar for the hitch. i have a question about the wiring tho... goldwing world has a plug and play harness for the 1500 GW, very clean install, what are the chances that the plugs are the same on a valk tourer?? the price is right so it'd be awesome if it'd plug in and work right out of the box... does anybody know if the plugs are the same?? i'd certainly appreciate any feedback on the trailer, hitch or wiring that anyone is willing to share, i'm all ears!!

If they do have a plug & play connector , I'm not aware of it. I used a Hopkins converter. It was pretty easy. Just determine your tail, stop, and blinker connections under the right side panel. I just made up some Y's with bullet connectors.

I have the GW wire harness (actually 2 of them) but without the isolator. I also have a rear section from the IS. I'm sure tho that the IS is a 6 wire plug, we as the GW is only 4.
They have the 2 MF plugs, one for each side of the bike. I don't know what is in each. The new one came without instructions, and the used on I have is already wired to a 6 pin plug and mounting bracket.
I figured after I plug it in, I'll need to get the trusty meter out and verify each output, and match the trailer to the bike.
Would be easiest to buy that for the parts, and then new connectors, see if the pins can be pull from the 4 pins, and moved into the 6 pin for the Valkyries.

that's a good idea, the price isn't bad and i want to put an isolator in anyway... thanks for the input!

well i made a couple calls on the trailer and it's a nos '10 that they are willing to sell for $1800 which i suppose isn't bad, i called Thomas bus sales in Des Moines and their price on an mctxl is $1903 for a brandywine that they would have to order... they have a std mct (brandywine) for $1650 but don't currently have an xl in brandywine so they'd have to order one... that's not a big deal as i don't foresee needing it this fall. (it takes about 8 weeks to get one from the factory) so what i'm thinking is that maybe i'll ride to DM some morning and see how well the brandywine matches my bike, if it's a good match i'll probably order one. if it doesn't match very well then i'll just save the $103 and buy the black one that's 20 minutes away... the color isn't a huge deal to me but Aluma has changed the design of the fenders and tail lights, i don't know if it's necessarily better but it is different... i wonder how much of a price increase they've had in the past 5 yrs...
as for the wiring, i pulled the right side cover and have 5 bullet connectors, no plug so i'm thinking that i'll just go with a simple converter/isolator set up and keep things simple...
