You can literally spend hundreds of dollars trying to find the right pegs and positions.

Most options have you with your feet spread wide and out, causing your hips to rotate in an unatural position.

As an option, I suggest that you check out "Mick-o-Pegs". These are spring loaded pegs that allow your legs a more natural and relaxed position for longer periods of time and allows you to quickly get your feet to the brakes and shifter when needed. Contact Jim Mick at: ridingiswonderful.com

I was wondering the other day if they were still making pegs.
If I was going to pop for a set of highway pegs I think I'd go with that.
I've sat on the demo goldwings and BMWs at different events. I've also sat on Valks at Inzane with Mick o Pegs mounted. It just seems like a good idea.

Kuryakyn 4050's have worked out best for me.  They mount to the part of the crash bar that runs under the cylinder heads and are infinitely adjustable and your legs won't be splayed out so wide.  I don't like riding with my feet all the way out and forward as I feel I have better control of the bike in more of a forward/mid position.  The 4050's have given me 3 foot positions to choose from at any time.  I have the stock position, heel on stock pegs with forefoot on the Kurys, and foot on just the Kurys.

and the Ultimate Kingboy seat.  The two combined have given me about 2 more inches of room and an inch down.  Might not seem like much, but on the Valkyrie, inches for tall riders is like finding gold.

that brings up another point for me.... I would like a backrest....  what Kind of options would you recommend?  I have seen some that use the factory or after market seat and bolt to the frame rails... or would it be better to get a seat with one built in?

+1 for Mick-o-Pegs. I replaced a set of Kuryakens that made me feel I was undergoing an exam by a gynecologist. The MoP's are perfect for what "highway pegs" are supposed to do. Now if I could get more than 150 miles out of a tank of gas, I wouldn't have to stop so often.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I love these. They have a heel cup that helps keep your foot in position. You have to be 6'4" to be able to reach. Short guys needn't try. Kury 4040 unlighted or 4041 lighted.

The info says for standard & tourer, but I made it fit the I/S by cutting off the air scoop and taped off the crash bar and spray painted with chrome paint. Can't notice. Also had to use some JB weld on the left side because the screw holding the floorboard kept coming loose. Caught them on sale for $200.00

Also got the matching floorboards for Anita. kury 4455 boards, 4557 adjustable lockable offsets (4", they have a 2" available) with male mount 8825? Look at the pics for mounting.

These were a job getting everything right. The adaptors they recommend don't work plus we threw away a couple other parts you don't need.

is that the passenger floor board? or are you using that for another position for you? that is a good looking setup
