New to my Valk. I have soft side saddle bags. Not sue what king. They have a hard plastic liner on the inside which conform to the rear fender mounts / rear seat supports. Im trying to come up with a way the have an easier method of removing my bags but not having to drop the fender. cuz its a PITA to get the fender and bag lined up correctly to install the bolts. It has two different size bolts on each side. Anyone know the exact size? Plus I was thinking of doing an All Thread and locking it in then I could unbolt bags and not fender. Any ideas or opinions? Thanks in advance. BTW this forum and all of you are sooooooo helpful.

.....drop the fender.....?
Could you post a few pictures? The Honda OEM leather saddlebags have a plastic back as well as many aftermarket bags. However I have never seen any bags that mounted to the rear fender.
Pics will help us help you.

A long time ago someone came up with quick releasepackage for just what you want.each threaded rod came with 3 nuts and a couple of washers. The rods[best as I can measure] 8mm x 76mm & 10mm x 80mm.Pull one bolt out and do one theaded rod at a time. Then a thin washer and nut to lock it in place, then another nut to lock that nut in place in place.put a washer between bag and nut and a washer and locknut and your done.No need to remove fender after that.

Dragonslayer, that's what I was thinking. Even square of the very end on inside so can put wrench on it and snug down. I haven't been on here long enough to figure out the pic upload process. Need to get on that. When I figure this out I will post pics for all.

There was a vendor called "Rattlebars" that made a stainless steel "Bag Drop Kit". That vendor has long since stopped producing that kit.

I thought it was Rattlbars but my remberer isn't working as good as it was 18 years ago.Any good nut & bolt place should be able to set you up,remember to use stainless or a lot of antisieze in the fender side. You might even be able to piece it at Ace.Let me know how it works for you.

The bolt sizes are 8mm and 10 mm. Both have a thread pitch of 1.25. A bolt & Nut supply could order all thread for you. I made my own bag drop kit when I installed a Hitch Doc trailer hitch. Chrome or SS nuts and spacers can be found at ACE Hardware.

Thank you all for the help. Headed to "Fastenal" tomorrow to see what they can do for me. I'm taking the bolts so shouldn't be an issue. I'll let you know.

That is correct but note the 1.25 pitch for the 10mm bolt is fine thread..whereas on the 8mm 1.25 is coarse thread.

Ok both bolts, 8m and 10m are 1.25. 1.25 is standard for 8m but had to order the 10m in 1.25. Also the nuts. So what I'm thinking is I will use wing nuts inside the bag for easy removal with no tool required. I have the 8m wing nuts but don't think they make one for the 10. Decided I will just buy the flange nuts for each and weld a "wing like" handle on that is larger then regular wing nut, so I can get torque on it by hand. That way when I want to clean or if have an issue while on the rode with rear tire. The "BAM", comes right of and out of way by hand. What do you guys think? I will post pics when I get parts together.
