Evening folks! After a LOVELY long day at work and while I was on my way home I managed to have a rather unfriendly encounter with a small white tail at about 30mph; needless to say my fairing is toast! I'm fine minus a bit of road rash but nothing serious thank the gods for that!

I'm looking at replacing the fairing on my interstate now and while I can stomach the almost 400 bucks for a new piece of Honda plastic; I thought there might be alternate ideas for a front fairing for the beast...maybe even something I can add bigger speakers to in the long run?

Any ideas?

There are many options available to you. You could go from a Harley road glide fairing to a bat wing and everything in between. But in my opinion there is nothing as pretty as the stock fairing.

See...the problem with doing that on an Interstates is...there is too much involved in the dash to simply swap it out with an alternative.  Your best bet would be to search ebay for one.  There are parts sellers like pinwall on there that part out wrecked bikes.

Another option is to use an ABS glue and put the pieces back together then get your fairing repainted.

This is what I would do, then get the newly purchased plastic repainted if it's worn or scratched.

He's right(steel cowboy) nothing like the original fairing, I had one  busted up pretty good and had a corvette body shop repair it and it lasted for ever.

Depending upon what you are looking for, it's entirely possible to cut it down and make it a bit more svelte.

Makes it kind of like a big Parabellum from the R90 Beemer days.  You do lose speakers.  But I've never listened to a radio when riding.  Everything else (dash, mirrors) remain unchanged.

if you go to the classified section of this board, you'll see a guy out of texas with the handle Litdav, he.s parting out 2 interstates and bought few items from him , great to deal with and reasonable prices and fast shipping. he still has one interstate complete fairing for sure as he just posted few days ago, if not two of them. his phone is on there too. he answers texts msgs fast too. good luck

Mark81 - very good. No side winds enter between you and the shield.  The only thing more exposed is your hands.  I also use a cut down windshield, but put a laminar lip on it.  I like to look over the shield, and the LL diverts all the wind to just above my helmet.  I'm very happy with it.

It also got rid of the occasional exhaust smell that was sucked in by the big original windscreen creating such a low pressure area.
