I have a 1997 Valkyrie Tourer and when I purchased it, the previous owner gave me a new unused filter still in the plastic wrap.  Today when changing the filter I noticed the new one was a different number but still fit.  Physically, it appears to be a little larger as my oil filter wrench was very tight on the new one and the chrome oil filter cover I took off the old one will not go back on the new one.  I could care less about that but was wondering if there is much difference in the filters other than the size.  The old one is a Honda OEM 6C24 filter and the new one is a Honda OEM 6V21.

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I tried searching and was confused than when I started.

the honda filter is used on most of their bikes. when the GL1800 came out they made the filter slightly smaller.
just google the #s and see what comes up.

No problem with it. When I had my VTX the filter was a tad smaller but eventually used the same as on my Valk kust to keep from having two different ones on my shelf.

The part number for the OEM filter is 15410-MFJ-D01.  I don't think the numbers you mention are part or model numbers, but might be manufacturing batch codes.  See the photos below all have the same part number, but different batch codes.
