I need help!!!! I have a 2001 I/S and it still has that silly stock horn. I have had air horns on both of my Standard Valks but I can't figure out where to install the horn on the I/S. I sure could use any and all suggestions for my problem. Also, while we are at it any suggestions what horn would be the best buy and loudest and most dependable. As always thanks in advance for your help.

I mounted a "Badboy" horn on the left side by the fuel tap handle. Got it from HF.  Looks like it belongs there and is loud. Did not take a whole lot of finagling (is that a word?). Good luck. Ride safe.

I know I posted a response, it disappeared.

Anyway, I don't know about an IS, but, I installed a Stebil beside/behind the ignition switch. It wouldn't quite fit in the original position and look good.

Kong,

Like Hukmut I mounted my Wolo on the left side by the fuel shut off. Just be sure to run the power through a relay. Here's a pic.

My Stebel is mounted in the OEM horn location.  It faces forward.  Have not had a problem with it getting wet.

I put the relay in the right pod.

If the IS has no lights in the pods, as some do not, a pair of wolos fit right in the pods with a little modification.  Hoser

No mod needed here. I took a piece of flat stock maybe 1 1/2" or 2" wide and bent a 90* angle just back far enought to reach the bolt hole on the top of horn mount and drilled a hole in the side of flat stock remove one radiator mount bolts and mounted it there and the pod just slipped right back over it.

Broke down and got in a Wolo for now and mounted it right side, off the starter gears housing. Didn't want to tuck it in tight under the back of the tank, would get in the way of access to pulling the tank. Ran the wires pretty much out of sight. Tuck the key ring in behind it.  Looks OK, puts a hunk of chrome where there isn't any now; volume nothing like Deerslayer's, but it's adequate and much easier to put in play.  Relay mounted on my relay board; fused from the open slot on the PC-8. Just needed a small hunk of 1/8" aluminum stock, 2.25 X 1.25" with 5/16" holes at 35mm on center.

OK, so what's WOLO stand for?  We Only Live Once?  Seems appropriate on our Fat Ladies.

Hmmm, interesting. I was concerned about facing it forward in the original location. That is where I would rather have it.  I ain't moving it though.

So, I got bored over the weekend and decided to move my Wolo into the right side radiator pod as Bighead suggested. No mods to the pod at all and I think it turned out nice, may put one in the left side as well. This allows me to put the transmission cover back on the left side now. Here are a couple pics.

Did you have to remove the OEM plastic deflector inside the pod or can it remain?

The plastic deflector is still in place and no mods made to the pod at all. There is plenty of clearance to remove and install the pod mounted vertical or horizontal.

Where have you guys gotten the WOLO's with so much chrome coverage? When I got mine only about 3/4 of the outside coverage areas where chrome...... Maybe just a newer model than mine?

So question for the electrical wizards, if I put another Wolo in the left side pod can I run power to it through the relay I installed for the first one? TIA!

Brad valk did this and used two relays I believe and I would do the same. The horn comes with a relay so your not out any extry dough.

Ok, I figured out the difference.

Mine is a Chrome Stebel Nautilus (claimed 139db), and are not as well covered with chrome.
The ones posted on this thread are Chrome WOLO (badBoy)(claimed 123.5db).

Damn, looks like I gotta upgrade my horn again, and I am thinking of hanging one off each side under the tank near the petcock and key switch.

At its very best moment in time after the freshen up I did on the outer surfaces this is all I got.

DAMN!

How about a cover, for the entire horn?
Well look what I found. This might work well for me I just need to rotate the mounting of my installation.

Not 100% sure but from Kuryakyn website photos looks like there are slots cut in the cover I guess to allow all the sound to escape? the other pictures I have seen did not show the cutouts...

Thank you Sir, kinda of what I thought. Might be time for a secondary fuse box while I have the old girl moth balled for the winter.
