Just finished ordering a new set of throttle cables. Wondering if there are any tips, tricks or just good ole plain advise when I tackle this job? I will be taking pics of course.

Take off the tank and hook up the cables from the throttle down and connect to the carbs in that order.

Don't ask me how I know.

Back off all your adjustments before you install.  The carb side is your rough adjustment...the grip side is your fine adjustment.

When you install the cable at the throttle side, run it all the way in (most slack).  That way, you have more cable to play with at the carb side.

Make sure your cables are lubed good before you install them.  it is easier to check and do off the bike.

Before you put the tank back on, check that you have everything routed properly and everything works properly.  The throttle should return to fully closed at either full lock of the bars.  Better to find this out with the motor off and in your garage than on the street.

Unless you have a stock setup and went back with stock (length) cables, pay double attention to routing and throttle operation.

That is all I got at the moment.

Now would be a great time to add long risers if you aren't long-limbed.  Then route the cables inside the forks rather than between them.  Later - it's a bigger project to disconnect the cables and re-route them.  I installed 6" Harley risers and really like the added comfort of bars that are closer and higher so I could rotate them down to get a better angle for my wrists.

I am pretty sure I have stock set up as far as risers go. Carb throttle link actuates carbs just fine. When I hooked up throttle cables throttle works fine in all directions except hard-full right. Don't get why it worked fine before now it doesn't! Soooo, I hope new cables are the answer. As far as routing goes, not much to it. Checked couple other bikes that are in my area. Routing seems to be OK. Adjustment based on pics I took are OK. I lubed the cables over a couple nights and had the carb ends elevated in hopes lube (Clenzoil) would make it through to the entire cable. I have not taken apart cables at throttle end and tried to lubricate from their.

That's actually where most of the throttle sticking occurs, right at the bend of the solid tube part of the cable.

I don't think they are adjusted correctly.   From the manual, section 3, page 4:

THROTTLE OPERATION
Check for any deterioration or damage to the throttle cables.
Check that the throttle grip for smooth operation. Check that
the throttle opens and automatically closes in all steering
positions.
If the throttle grip does not return properly, lubricate the
throttle cables and overhaul and lubricate the throttle grip
houslng .
For cable lubrication. Disconnect the throttle cables at their
upper ends. Thoroughly lubricate the cables and them pivot
points with a commercially available cable lubricant or a light
weight oil.
If the throttle grip still does not return properly, replace the
throttle cables.
Riding with a damaged or abnormally bent or kinked throttle cable
can prevent proper throttle slide operation and may Iead to a loss in throttle control while riding.

With the engine idling, turn the handlebar all the way to the
right and left to ensure that the idle speed does not change.
If idle speed increases, check the throttle grip free play and
the throttle cable connection.
Measure the throttle grip free play at the throttle grip flange.
THROTTLE GRIP FR€E PLAY: 2-6 mm /1/12-1/4in )
Throttle grip free play can be adjusted at either end of the
throttle cable.

Minor adjustments are made with the upper
adjuster.
Loosen the lock nut, turn the adjuster as required and tighten
the lock nut.

Major adjustments are made with the lower adjuster.
Remove the fuel tank (page 2-4).
Loosen the lock nut, turn the adjuster as required and tighten
the lock nut.
Recheck the throttle operation and install the fuel tank.
