Could someone tell me or better yet have a picture on how the lids bolt on an interstate saddle bag, the lids on mine come right off with no hinges and the cables are not hooked up, also there is a some sort of bracket that looks to be bent and bolted on the side

?

If I understand you correctly, your IS saddle bags come off the bags?

This is how they are suppose to work. They are a "hook" and stay on after you snap the rear latch closed. They are suppose to hang from 2 cables, so the don't fall after opening, and can be placed to the side.

And those bent brackets you are speaking of is what rests against the side of the bag. However make sure the rubber tips are on them or you won't be happy if you let the lid rest on the bag Shocked

Cables and brackets with tips are still available from Honda and not expensive just replaced all of mine this summer. Brackets that is my tips were missing.

I did a post months back on this with the part numbers.

Note that cables #25 and 26 are not the same length.

It's not fun using this schematic, but you can.

Get those cables on.  For one reason or another, eventually the lids fly off without them.  Double check your bag latches every time until you do.  My front clip latch got a bit crooked, and was latched, until I hit a big dip on the freeway.  Then it wasn't latched and the lid flew off and got run over by a blind driver.

Oh man that's what I was worried about, those lids come off while riding, I'm going to get those cables Monday morning, thanks for the feed back and that list of parts, great help.
