I assume those who have a memphis shades windshield or batwing fairing has these clamps.  Can you tell me the thread size on the side of the clamps?  I need to relocate front turn signals and don't want this project to get too pricey.  I'm thinking this may be the way to go.

It doesn't matter if your talking about OEM turn stalks.

If you have the MS clamps on hand you can see why.

You'll need to allow the OEM fastener to pass through the clamps threaded receiver without allowing it to catch the threads. That means you'll need to drill out the threads of the MS clamps mounting block, they're tighter [not metric either] then the OEM screw, in order to be able to position the turns properly. And, since that fastener needs to pass from the inside of the clamp you'll also need to drill out a slight receiver to accept the fastener head and wide enough to get a lock-washer in there too You've got less then a .25" of blocking to work with so you'll probably have to file down the head of the OEM allen fastener too. I wouldn't open it up to receive the head any deeper then .125". Filing the head, you'll probably loose the ability to get an allen wrench in it to catch. You may need to take the OEM screw to the hardware store and try to find a shorter S.S. fastener head if the projects got a chance to work at all. I would match and replace the OEM allen screw with an allen button head, then you wouldn't need to drill so deep to receive the head - leaving more material to crank it tight. Your gonna need to crank it tight to keep the stalks in position [use a 2nd lock-washer at the stalks]. You can determine thread count and size by fitting a metric nut to the OEM screw at the hardware store.

I once considered your idea. But, chose to go a different route.
My clamps are from Stortz. Well over $300.00 for 2 pairs, if I recall. They're nicely chromed billet, but are a 1 piece unit and require slipping the forks to install. There are 2 piece clamps out there too. Whatever clamp you decide to use, creativity will be paramount.

Dennis,
I was able to maneuver the turn signals to where they don't touch the pods at full lock.  I think they will be OK in that position.  Move them up and back a little.
Boy do I have a helpful hint for getting the air guide in there for anyone else who decides to do this project.
