My 99 IS came with An Ultimate Low Rider and back rest.
I find the back rest hits too low on my back for my taste. I've looked at the Ultimate web site but see no option for a longer stem.
My thought is to take the stem to a welding shop & see if they can extend it.
Has anyone fabricated a longer stem or had one made?

Remove the seat and take loose the set screw that holds the back rest, raise it up and tighten the screw.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Mine doesn't have that, it is removable. there is a groove in the stem where it kind of clicks in to place as described on the install instructions. Even if I don't push it all the way down til it clicks in, it is lower than I would like.

I contacted Ultimate and was able to order a 2" longer upper post for the back rest.
I should have it next week. I'll install right away & let you know the end result.

I had a Mustang seat and backrest before I got my Ultimate.

My Mustang backrest fit into the backrest slot on the Ultimate perfectly. I'm not sure if it's longer, but it's something you may want to explore, FWIW.

The new upper post arrived today. I installed it at lunch time & sat on the bike. It seems to hit the area of my back I was hoping it would. I probably wont get a chance to go for a ride til maybe Thur but I think it will work out well. Ultimate got it shipped out & to my door faster than I expected so I appreciate that. I'll post again after I get a chance to go for a ride.
