While trying to isolate an issue on my bike I checked the shock bushings that I had previously replaced with stock shock bushings last year and noticed they were badly worn, not worn thru but worn and egg shaped. I reworked the front end of my bike and am starting to look at the rear end of the bike and this was the first step (of many). On the VTX message boards they addressed some new shock bushings for the VTX 1800F, that were harder neoprene or something (and look greenish not like the black rubber). Well I got a set of these for the upper shocks on my VTX but there were still good so I installed them on the Valkyrie since they are the same size and probably the same shock. They are much firmer and harder than stock shock bushings. I have heard of others using nylon bushings from McMaster-Carr, but they don't have the taper like our shocks. In any event I wanted to share the part number with you in the event you would like to try em out as well. Part nr 52489-HNO-671 , a much better bushing (even cheaper than) that the stock black bushing. My local dealer price matched DLP prices too.... a pair for under 5 bucks  |

I have a set of Gary's bushings on my VTX and they are showing some wear after a few years now. The newer design ones I got from Honda appear to be made from the same material as Gary's. They are somewhat less expensive as well......

I received in a couple of pair of bushings from Gary today. He was back ordered on material and I was ancy to get them in. After a few email messages he was kind enough to make getting mine out a priority.
Seems like a good guy and the installation was extremely easy (much easier then the removal of the old ones).

+1 on the VTX bushings...... price was right, $10 for upper and lowers..... $2.50 each.
Did them bout a month ago...... Will have to see how they last.

That is a Honda #.... go to your local dealer or DLP/HDL.... |

I would say you would need the VTX Top Mount in order to do that. You might be able to use the VTX shocks (if the length was right) but I am not sure I would do that on an I/S. I also don't know if the Valk upper post would accept the bearing or not. But it looks like the upper shock mounts screw into the frame on both bikes, so I don't know why you couldn't swap them over...as long as the shocks were the right length.

I ran the part number and came up with a bunch of sites selling it. One of the sites showed on a micro fiche that the top and bottom bushings have the same part number. I'm upgrading the rear shocks on my '98 Tourer with a used set off an Interstate, so for the price I figured I'd replace the bushings all around. Ordered 4 for $2.43 each from Partzilla. |

I thought Gary's was our guy here in WA States, who passed back in 2012? or there abouts. I have a set of his which I just had put onto my IS, along with the rear dampeners.
I think someone else either had left over stock or the pattern for them, and was selling them still.
Maybe a link?
