If you were looking at picking up a Valk, what be the max milage you woud consider having on her?
Lets consider all everything on the bike is in good shape and functioning, i'm looking at a 98 with 90K on her.
She looks beautiful, just wondering if that might be pushing the milage for a purchase.

If it is tight and nice, 90k should be fine. A loose clunky stored-outside oxidized one
is probably not one you'd want... I guess you at least get to sit on it first and work
the clutch and brakes and put the kickstand up, I've sat on Valkyries and done that
much and known they weren't for me...

DDT passed 500,000 a few months ago. His Valkyrie is still good. Stuff has been
fixed on it along the way, but not the motor or anything...

This should answer that question.

As for what to buy? The price should answer that question.

There is a lot of bikes out there with 20-60K miles. Check their prices and compare to what you are looking for. There are also low mile ones, for a lot more $, and some high mile ones for a lot less.

I took a chance on one this spring with 118K on it. I got it for a great price.
It now has 128K on it and I'm grinning from ear to ear.
Being a variant of the Goldwing engine, these things are known for some seriously high miles.

90k is just in the breaking in period if it has been service as it should have been.

I feel my bike with 115K on her, runs, handles and looks better than the other two.

But I've owned her since new and have put all the miles on myself.

It's probably in my head, along with a bunch of other stuff, but she just feels better and I know the maintenance she's received.

I would have no issues buying another Valk with over 100k, as long as she was well taken care off.

I bought my Interstate a couple years ago. It had 87k on it. 112k now. It's mostly about how she's been treated in my opinion. If you like the bike I'd go for it.  cooldude

Theres plenty of "Garage Queens" available with very low miles @ least in our area. Shop around you'll find a lower mileage unit. Mine had 11,300 mi. on it 1/13 when I purchased it.

100K or so is about it for me unless the deal was a great deal and had some extra sparkles on it.

But, if money is tight,  a 100K mile one will usually be a few grand less in price than one say 30K miles.

Ya gotta remember, it is NOT a HD requiring usually more work at 50-60K miles or so.
