I really dont understand it, why these bikes are not flying off the showroom floors and once people have them they sell them. They are radically different than most bikes out there and if you are a Harley guy it would like going from the first space launch in 61 to the starship Enterprise. But I love my bike and I never cease to get compliments from people on how cool the bike is. One girl in a Mercedes was driving next to me and tells me I like your bike. Plus the purchase price is a bargain.

You answered your own question: most people are sheep.  They are told, by their friends, the media and the companies selling the status quo, that a cruiser must be (a), (b) and (c).  Like many things around them, new things -differences - are to be doubted and feared.  A bike that doesn't look like it came from an already-known pattern - a rehash of a 1950's motorcycle, either American or British, or off the racetrack, or off the dirt track - is to be frowned upon.

Look, the MOrons at Motorcyclist Magazine rated the Valkyrie LAST against the VMax and the Diavel...BECAUSE IT WAS TOO REFINED.  How do you like that?  Too good, can't be a "muscle cruiser", we need am uncompromising brute that may be uncomfortable, impractical and unreasonable...but at least its fast, and that's all that matters.  Go look up the review, that's *exactly* what their final decision was.  And people read, don't question for themselves...and blindly believe.

And that's today's modern world.

Wink So true, Lets call them Sheepal cause they follow most trends off the cliff. I was laughing, because the young salesman at my dealer wants that Valkyrie very bad, but can't afford it and that's coming from the Honda dealership salesman!!! We are blessed to ride these. I never would have looked at one until Honda dropped the price and my dealer put one on Craigs list. I did the reviews and bought it without a test ride. I went 3 blocks and had a smile on my face you couldn't miss!!! It's still there every ride

You know how sayings come along from time to time? Well this one is, it is what it is.    And I have mine and I love it so I am fine. It is sad though.

Well I believe I must be a sheep myself  2funny

I've had a BMW GS 2013 (the most succesful bike ever, in its kind) and I was so happy with it. In 2014 I had an accident (not my fault but who cares ? It's a miracle I was not hurt  angel) and I decided to change my driving habits. I bought a CTX 1300, so pretty and original, alas frankly too slow (85 HP/700lbs  Embarrassed) and not that comfortable. I'd never thought of buying a Goldwing but I tried the F6B when it was released and I was surprised (not as truck-esque as the Goldwing). When the F6c Valk came out, I tried it and was convinced. You all know that this bike is far more easy to ride than it looks at the dealer's shop (so massive, heavy etc.).

If I had the money and a garage as big as you guys do, I would definitely own a Diavel (the new one is awesome, I'll try it asap  Cool) because it is probably the coolest bike I know (incredible power, easy to handle, soooo much fun to ride, more than the Valk I confess). Alas, long distances on a Diavel  Roll Eyes is not as easy as with the Valk.

I'm glad to own a very good bike even if it's underestimated (so is the Suzuki DL 650 V Strom or the Suzuki GSR 750 or the BMW K1300 GT or the KTM SMT etc.), I'd say it's for connoisseurs  Grin

People may ride whatever they want to (scooters are a no go though). The fact is that most of the bikes now are good bikes right ?  coolsmiley

 ledany,

Honda messed up with the CTX1300  , why Honda  powers down so many of their motorcycles  is beyond me , I wnat them with more , not less power .

I had read about the V strom 650 so much that I had to have one and I did for a year  ,
that's a year I lost , can not get back that wasted year  , it's just a 650 , does nothing special , a waste of time for me .

I have a  2010 BMW R1200r that I put 24K miles on in 1.5 years and I am tried of the rough  ride ,  I can feel every rock , pebble and tiny bump  because of the harsh shocks , must be similar to your GS  .

@Kidd, I've never owned a DL 650 V Strom because I had wonderful and much more expensive BMW K1200 R at the time but I always thought that these Suzie owners were smart guys with their DL 650 : the bike is not expensive, quite reliable, ready for commuting & long distances, fun enough to ride, worth the money IMO

The problems you have with your R1200 R are weird because the shock absorbers usually do a fine job (if you don't race track). I've had a R1100 R for 50' miles, I enjoyed it a lot. For my R1200 GS water cooled 2013, people say it's a flying carpet, rightly (though I didn't have the ESA). The CTX 1300 was too slow and the shock absorbers (front and rear)  ridiculously weak, even on highways.

What I mean is that I don't despise the guys who don't ride the same bike as I do  Cool When I see a Diavel on the road (and it doesn't happen that often  2funny), or a BMW S 1000 XR, or even a super bike Ducati I like it - but I'm not jealous  Grin

Grin Was at my Honda dealer today and asked what price he had on the red Valk. $13,999. I wonder why he can't sell it?? I told him they can be purchased for $11000, but he said a small dealer can't do it.

I've had ABS on my bikes since 2005 and I know that there's no turning back. I'm not that convinced by the brakes on the Valk and I appreciate to use the front brakes as firmly as I can (when needed) and thus, ABS is a relief ! But in 20' miles, I've never felt the ABS in action (never on the front but often on the rear brake). I've ordered Lucas brake pads (the best we know, even with the Brembo) and I'll put them on as soon as I receive them.
BTW, 10' $ for a brand new Valk, the price is insane !  crazy2
